Help Strengthen a Bio Family
We have a family who is struggling financially and are unable to get a crib for the 5 months old boy. The parents are dealing with unexpected expenses related to a very expensive surgery that the 5 years old needs to have as soon as possible due to a medical diagnosis. The parents are hopeful to be able to overcome the current struggles they are facing financially to be able to continue providing safe environment for the children to thrive. Currently the parents are co-sleeping with the 5-month-old, and are in need of a crib and sheets so that the baby can sleep independently. The parents are not able to afford purchasing a crib at this time. Providing these basic necessities would diminish the emotional stressors on the family. By fulfilling this request, it would help the Department reduce the family's financial burden and help prevent court involvement and ensure family stability.

Help Strengthen a Bio Family
The household consists of a single mother and her three children—two boys, ages 11 and 6, and a 5-month-old daughter. The mother is incredibly resilient and has navigated many challenges throughout her journey in motherhood. At present, she is unemployed and under significant stress due to the father's absence from the home and his lack of support, particularly in caring for their 6-year-old son, who has been diagnosed with autism and requires high levels of care. The family lives in a single-family home with very worn furniture and limited clothing. Currently, the mother shares a mattress with both of her sons and her infant daughter. To help improve their living conditions and promote the children’s safety and comfort, the Department would like to assist the family in obtaining the following items: a trundle bed. Providing these basic necessities would not only ease the mother’s emotional and financial burdens but also allow the children to have their own beds, helping them get proper rest to start their days well. The family is really in need of the bed and bedding.

Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
Current Emergency Response Social Worker met with the family and found mother and child recently arrived in the US and began living with strangers who took them in off the streets. The environment with this new family was not helpful for child’s fragile mental health, as she was already experienced sexual abuse and physical abuse and witnessed severe domestic violence between mother and father. Over the course of the week, mother was able to rent a new room in LA 90001 to help alleviate some stress and anxiety for her child. Mother is in need of a small/slim refrigerator for food storage. We are working with a single mother and despite her consistent dedication as a parent to her three children, she needs a baby carrier for her newborn. With limited financial resources and minimal access to essential baby items, a carrier would make a significant difference in her daily life—allowing her to safely and comfortably care for her newborn while also tending to the needs of her other children. Your support in providing this essential item would directly help a hardworking mother create a more stable, nurturing environment for her family.

Help Strengthen a Bio Family
We are working with a devoted mother who has worked diligently to overcome significant personal challenges and has successfully reunified with her children. She is currently enrolled in online school, focused on building a stable and positive future for her family.
Despite her dedication and hard work, she is currently facing financial limitations and is unable to purchase a new car seat for her young child, who has recently outgrown the previous one. A safe and appropriate car seat is essential for her child’s well-being. Additionally, she needs sensitive diapers (size 6 and size 8) to help meet her children’s basic needs.
Any support you can provide would make a meaningful difference as mother continues her journey toward long-term growth and stability. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The family came to the attention of the department due to the fathers physical abuse towards the mother and vandalism of the mothers property. Filling this request will prevent unnecessary removal of the children from their mother as mother recently secured housing for herself and the children but struggles financially to buy basic household items. By the family having access to pots, pans and microwave, the mother can prepare the children’s food properly ensuring the family’s safety.

Help Reunify a Bio Family
This request is being made on behalf of a single mother who is scheduled to receive a Home of Parent order for her youngest child, who is 1 year old, on Friday, July 11, 2025. Additionally, her 388 request was granted, allowing her to receive more Family Reunification Services to help her reunite with her three older children.
The mother has been without a phone for some time, and we hope to obtain your support in helping her get a new one, either through her current mobile network or by providing a prepaid phone with some service included. She attempted to apply for an Obama phone (California Lifeline) but was informed that she cannot receive one because someone else has one registered in her name.
Since the mother has been granted reunification services for her older children, the court expects her to participate in and attend their medical, educational, and regional center appointments. Obtaining a phone is crucial, as it will help her keep track of these appointments and communicate with service providers. Without a phone, she risks issues being reported regarding her ability to keep up with appointments. Please consider assisting with this urgent need.

Mother needs a new forward facing booster seat with a harness for a 7 year old child. The child is in need of a booster seat seat with a harness as he has a disability and he often pulls at his seat belt making it unsafe when needing to travel from one place to another. The family came to the attention of the Department due to Domestic Violence concerns. Mother has been struggling financially and is now a single mom working day in and day out to ensure she is able to provide a safe and loving home environment for her two children. Mother is receiving assistance as her older child needs consistent care and supervision. However, she is struggling to come up with the funds to cover the cost for the car seat. Mother is committed to maintaining her family together. The main reason I am requesting this need to be fulfilled is because mother is doing the best she can to provide a safe environment for the children and the forward facing booster seat with a harness will assist in ensuring child safety. If the need is not met, the child could be severely hurt during day to day transportation. This need is being requested through Care Portal because unfortunately DCFS does not provide this item. The estimated cost of the need/s being requested about $230.

Dear CarePortal Team, I am submitting this request on behalf of a single, non-offending father who currently has an open DCFS case. He is experiencing significant financial hardship and is in urgent need of a crib and a highchair for his 1.5-year-old child. Providing these essential items would greatly help him meet his child’s basic needs, relieve some of the stress he is under, and allow him to focus on building a stronger bond with his child. Thank you for your support and compassion. Sincerely, L-5 Parent Partner

Social worker was made aware that caregiver’s refrigerator just went out and to be able to meet the needs of the family. The youth is placed with paternal aunt and although parental rights have terminated, this placement supports the youth’s ability to maintain placement and permanency with family. This caregiver stepped in to support the youth during a time in which she was having several replacements and behavioral challenges. Placement with paternal aunt appeared to help stabilize the youth and she has been doing well in her care since 10/2024. The necessity of the refrigerator is essential as it not only provides food storage for our youth in the home, but also provides it for her family. If the family is able to obtain a refrigerator it will provide financial relief to caregiver as she will not need to utilize a large portion of the family’s funds for this necessary home item. Caregiver appreciates that the Department is willing to advocate of their behalf and request that a refrigerator be provided to the family
