A single mother is in need of furnishing her new apartment. The mother has been unhoused for the last 9 months. The mother has a newborn baby (girl) and is expected to move forward next week to unsupervised/overnight visits with her two other children aged 5 (boy) and 9 (girl). The mother has stated that she does not have the funds available to furnish the home due to currently being on maternity leave. This is a single parent household with five children. The mother recently purchased two twin bunk beds with mattresses for the children. She has limited financial resources and has not been able to purchase bedding for the two bunk beds. When I explained and offered to submit a request to the Care Portal, the mother was surprised this was available. She graciously accepted the offer. She gave permission to share her name and telephone number.

The Agency is working with a 16-year-old female in foster care under family maintenance with her mother. The youth feels overwhelmed and isolates herself from her family. Upon speaking with the youth, she shared she likes crafts and baking. The hope is that these items help build her confidence and provides a therapeutic outlet. They may also offer her a calming distraction from stressors in a healthy constructive manner. A gift card to any store that has these items would greatly be appreciated. Thank you!

The household consists of a mother and her three children. The mother had purchased a washer and the warranty is expired. She reported the washer is broken. She works full time and is the sole supporter for her family. She stated she does not have the financial resources to fix the washer. She is struggling financially with having to do their laundry at the laundry mat. When she was offered the Care Portal, she was surprised by its existence and the generosity. She graciously accepted the offer of a Care Portal request for her washer and gave permission to share her name and telephone number.

A mother in Tulare recently obtained housing after being homeless for over a year. The children are 17, 15, 9, and 7. The mother has worked with the agency to find stability with housing and she found a home that the family moved into. The mother is requesting assistance with obtaining a couch, kitchen items, and dressers.

Care Portal assisted with providing bunk beds to the children as well.

Hello, I am writing to ask for a financial help for a 15-year-old girl who recently came back into care after being on runaway status for 6months. She returned with very few belongings and is in need of clothing and basic personal items. She is also getting ready to go back to school, so having the right clothes will help her feel more comfortable and confident during this transition in her life.

Any support you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

The Agency is currently working with a single father of 3 children under Family Reunification Services. The father has been complying with the Agency and complying with his case plan and has progressed to having overnight visits with his children. The father has his own business however business has been slow for him lately and the father is in need of a twinXL size bed for his oldest child. The father has been working hard to provide for his children when he can. Additionally, the Agency would like to help out the father with his business by assisting him with a laptop so he can better keep up with his business, get more clients, and communicate with his client better.

The Agency is currently working with a single mother of two. The children remain in the home with the mother, the mother and children recently moved into a home of their own and they are in need of dressers for their clothing. The mother has been working hard in her case plan and also working hard to maintain the family home. Currently the children's clothing is in trash bags, and they could really use a dresser to become more organized.

This family is requesting assistance with the removal of a jacuzzi that has lifted out of the ground and a collapsed pergola structure that is over the jacuzzi. The jacuzzi and pergola have been in the family’s backyard for many years. Unfortunately, the family was not able to upkeep the required maintenance. As result the jacuzzi was drained and not in service. The structure of the pergola deteriorated over time. After the heavy rainfall of 2023, the jacuzzi lifted out of the ground and the pergola structure collapsed. This household consists of one adult that has a limited capacity and is not able to work at this time. As a result, the limited income received is used to meet their essential needs. They are not able to afford the cost of a haul-off service. Your aid in addressing this issue for the family will help make a relative foster care placement and keep a family together.

Hello! I am currently working with two male children, ages 1 ½ and 8 months old. They have currently been placed in care with our agency. We were able to place with their grandmother! However, currently things have been a bit tight for the grandmother. We are seeking some assistance as the grandmother needs car seats for the children. The grandmother is needing care seats to transport to medical appointments, visits, daycare, and everyday necessities. The grandmother is also seeking a dresser for the children. She was gifted some clothing for the children and needs somewhere to store them. Lastly, she is asking for a washer and dryer as they currently gave out. The grandmother has been going to the laundry mat, however this has also caused a financial strain on the family. The washer and dryer will also be helpful as she now has two additional people in the home. If these needs are met, it will help support the children to remain in her care. This placement allows the children to interact with their relatives such as cousins and older siblings so we would really like to support them as much as possible.

I am writing to request funding assistance for a critical home repair for a dedicated foster parent in our community who currently cares for three foster children and has three biological children of her own. This resource parent has established a loving and supportive environment for all the children in her care; however, she is facing significant safety concerns due to a broken double-pane window in the children's room.

The window is completely broken and poses a serious risk to the safety and wellbeing of the children. With hotter weather approaching, it is vital that this issue be addressed promptly to ensure a secure living environment and to preserve the stability of the foster placements.

The resource parent recently relocated to this home, and unfortunately, the landlord has not taken any steps to resolve this issue. Given her limited financial resources, she is struggling to cover the costs associated with the necessary repairs.

Your support in funding this repair will not only help restore the window but also enhance the overall safety and stability of her home. This assistance will enable her to continue providing a nurturing space for vulnerable children.

Failure to complete this repair will leave the children’s safety at risk and the home in non-compliance with state mandates regarding foster care.

The resource parents have advised the landlord, and he has given permission to complete repairs.

At this time I have a bio mother who is requesting assistance from her local community. The mother is getting all six children returned back to her and has requested assistance in obtaining a few items from her local community as she is unable to afford the following due to drastic change: two bunks beds, mattresses, sheets, comforters, and pillows. The mother expressed she is also going to school which is taking more of moms income which is why she is unable to afford the mentioned above items.
