This family who lost their home in a house fire is in need of some new beds for their new home. Mom is who battling some medical problems is trying so hard at getting their home back together. She could use some help from her community in getting these items so that they have some new beds and a place to sleep in their new home. She has battled through multiple health problems and the house burning down and continues to fight everyday. She could use the help of her community to build her back up. The Jackson County Children's Division Prevention team has been working with an apartment complex on safety concerns around their facilities. We have had numerous talks with management and unfortunately the type of safety concerns were having are in the units only with children. The complex can only do so much and have agreed to work with us to help solve the concerns from both us and KCPD. The apt complex has had numerous police reports due to children being unmonitored at unsafe age. The children have been able to leave the apt building, via window, front door, or sliding glass doors. The locks that the apt complex have are old and the actual door to get into the building is self-open. We had event at the apartment complex where we were able to speak with close to 75 families about these safety concerns there having. Some of them the doors just do not lock, or they do not have the funds to get the proper child safety locks, some of them their children will leave while parents are sleeping and there's no lock on the door that is high enough away off the ground where a child cannot reach it. Sliding glass door locks anywhere from 10-20 of these would be beneficially.

This is a great opportunity for our community to come together and help a whole apartment complex with some baby proofing items they are in need of 50 lever locks and 5 sliding glass door locks to help keep their kids safe as the current locks do not work on the new doors that the apartment put in and these families could use your help. The children cannot live in the home of their grandmother who can take them. They were in a single parent home and Mom died, they are staying with an 84-year-old great-grandmother in a very small home and need to get into grandmas. She needs a dumpster urgently so that she can clean out her 2-bedroom home to accommodate the kids. She has too many boxes, bins and clutter to have them live with her comfortably or safely and there are 3 kids, so it really needs to be able to have all the rooms used. PLEASE HELP!! Great Grandmother cannot keep them. Would be great if this dumpster could get delivered on MONDAY so that they can get the house cleaned out by Friday and the kids can get into the home. A 21-year-old mother has recently left a domestic violence relationship while her infant was brought into alternative care. The mother has done all that was asked of her, while continuing to advocate and provide for her daughter. A trial home visit began last week, reuniting the mother with her daughter. DSS is currently supporting a dedicated great-grandmother who is caring for her two great-grandchildren in her home. She is nurturing a two-year-old boy and a six-month-old girl, both of whom require additional resources.

The two-year-old boy needs pull-ups in size 4T, while the six-month-old girl requires diapers and several cans of Similac Advance formula.

Additionally, the two-year-old requires a car seat, and a pack-n-play is essential for the six-month-old. Thank you in advance for your support in this kinship placement.

A young girl and her family have recently relocated to Florida. During their time there, she connected with an adult male on Snapchat, who persuaded her to travel to Cincinnati, even covering the cost of her Greyhound ticket. When the child left home, her mother promptly filed a missing person report, and efforts to locate her have been ongoing. Fortunately, the child has been found in Cincinnati and is currently receiving care in a hospital while arrangements are made for her safe return home. The mother is diligently working full-time to provide for her daughters and maintain their home. An adult sister is ready and willing to fly to Cincinnati to bring her sister back, but the family is currently facing financial challenges that prevent them from affording the travel expenses.

DSS is looking to explore resources that can support this hardworking family. They have made incredible strides in transforming their home from a hoarding situation, showcasing their dedication and resilience. However, they are in need of essential items like clean beds and a gently sofa, as well as functional air conditioning units. With the heat rising, it’s crucial to address their comfort and well-being. Both adults are stepping into the workforce and are ready to collaborate with local churches to create a plan for support. Family of 3 currently experiencing a sudden hardship. Mom and 2 kids left their home due to unforeseen circumstance. Family is staying with another family member right now until they can secure their own housing. Family lost most of their income due to the move and mom is currently working part time. Family currently only has the clothing that they left with and could benefit from any support. Mom identified urgent needs being - Hygiene products, clothing, and gas. Mom was able to apply for EBT, health insurance, and is actively working to secure housing.

If request is able to be met it would free up some of mom's funds and allow her to shift her focus to saving for housing.

This youth is trying to get their Birth certificate so they can begin their job they have lined up in the trades. He is working really hard and has everything else lined up but is needing help from his community so he can start his job. He struggled with being in and out of his parents house but is now putting together is life on his own as he ages out. This youth works so hard at making sure he has a better life then what was in his past. Thank you for your support as always.

Family received a shut off notice from their water company. Baby arrived extremely early and began their stay in the Small Baby Unit. Due to baby arriving so early, baby has remained in critical condition. With baby being so sick, parents have been staying at bedside, trying to spend time with him and hold him. Dad's employment is out of state and he has been unable to return to work as he has been remaining at here, to spend time with baby and emotionally support mom and their other children. Mom shared with me that they are able to set up a payment plan to avoid their water being turned off but would need assistance with the initial payment.
