I have had a mother reach out in need of assistance with digging her family out of hole. Mom and Dad have 4 children. Mom works full time, however Dad has been unable to stay employed since he was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease. Dad has not had trouble getting jobs, however he has been let go by every employer he has had, due to his healthcare needs. They have applied for disability, and they are currently waiting to hear back from Social Security.

The family has gotten behind on all of their bills, mainly their mortgage and car payment.
The mortgage company has been very kind to work with them, and their mortgage is now due on July 1st.
They are 3 months behind on the car payment, which is $350/month.

A single mother is currently raising her three children and they need to move into a new house. The house that they are currently living in is infested with rats and the exterminator hired by the landlord was not able to resolve the rat issue. For the sake of their well-being, it is important that they move to a new home, but they need help with paying the security deposit. They qualify for Section 8 Housing assistance but the security deposit is not covered by the voucher. The security deposit is estimated to range from $1600-$1700.

Hello, looking for assistance with family that needs a new pack n play/crib for a 2-year-old toddler, and a bunk bed and twin mattresses for a 15-yr old and 7-yr-old. Not urgent needs for the family the older children sleep in the same bed currently, and the toddler has a broken crib, but this would help assist a family who has financial and transportation issues (they have no car).

This request is being made on behalf of a single mother of four children who were scheduled to move into an apartment complex in mid-April. When moving in, the family noted a foul odor throughout the apartment and discovered large areas of the carpeting covered in animal urine. After pulling up the carpeting and padding, it appears that large portions of the carpet, padding, and subfloor are stained by urine and possible mold to the degree that Stanley Steamer declined to clean the carpeting. The apartment complex has refused to replace the carpet and padding and has told the family they can pay to replace the carpet or they can have their security deposit and rent already paid back. The family has no other place to live, must be out of the current home on May 31, and has an exemplary record of past tenancy in our community.

Client lives in Lynchburg with her 3 children. She is currently out of work until the end of May when she begins her job. Her husband is currently incarcerated. Although she starts her job next week, it will be a few weeks before she gets paid. She really needs assistance with her car and rental insurance, which is due on 5/20 or she will lose her insurance policy. She also could use some help with food! A mother of four, is at imminent risk of losing her housing due to a delinquent water utility account. A lease violation notice was issued on March 2, 2025, advising the tenant of the need to resolve the outstanding balance and restore water service. Per the terms outlined in the lease violation, if water service is not paid and fully restored by June 1, 2025, eviction proceedings will be initiated. The tenant has sought financial assistance through local organizations and was informed that a pledge would be made on her behalf. However, as of the current date, no pledge or payment has been applied to the account. • Amount pass due: $342.77 • May bill (due May 21, 2025): $114.47 • Total amount currently due: $457.24 Immediate intervention is necessary to prevent displacement and further hardship for this family. Single mom with significant health issues that prevent her from working, in need of a handyman to help with home fixes. She has three children in the home, one is an adult with Autism whom she continues to care for, one is 16-years-old with Autism and serious mental health struggles, and one is a vivacious 2-year-old. Mom loves her kids and does her best to provide for them, but struggles especially when her health issues flare up. Her 16-year-old son, in his struggle with mental illness, has caused damages to the home such as punching holes in the walls, breaking the blinds, breaking cracks into the bathtub and causing it to leak, pulling off and breaking doorknobs, and pulling the closet doors off their tracks. Mom has made the extremely difficult decision to have her son safely cared for at a facility, long-term, in order to get him the help he needs and give her other children a safe and stabile home. With mom being unable to work and chronically ill, she is unable to afford someone to come help fix these things, and she is scared that if her landlord finds out she will get evicted. Mom has lived there for some time and has a good record as a tenant. She has expressed so much gratitude already at the thought of anyone being able to help her, even if just to patch the holes in the walls. She is such a kind, considerate, and resilient human being. She is praying that her middle son can receive the help he needs, and stated that, any and all help is much appreciated!

A mother is trying to obtain birth certificates for her two children from West Virginia. Each certificate requires a $12.00 fee, and she has attempted to apply multiple times, but the applications have been rejected due to errors she may be making during the process. She reached for assistance with completing the application correctly and also asked if there might be any support available to cover the $24.00 total fee -- and perhaps someone to help her through the computer process. The birth certificates are needed to enroll the older child in Kindergarten and the younger in Head Start. Thank you so much for any help you can provide!!!

Mother who has a 2 month old and 5 year old daughter is currently facing eviction and is asking for assistance with her rent payment. Mother has been in court due to custody issues with her partner and has been left with very little support financially. Mother needs $1325 by MAY 9 in order to avoid going to court for the eviction. Mother wants to avoid eviction and remain housed with her two small children, if at all possible!

Mother is also in need of micro-preemie diapers, as her preemie daughter is still small and was recently re-hospitalized and discharged home.
