I am working with a mother and father, who have a young child- and are struggling with lack of financial resources to replace the door to their home. They currently do not have a front door- it is entirely broken, and just props up on the frame at night but is not at all attached. It is a safety hazard to the family to not have a door to their home, putting them at risk of harm. Any assistance that could be provided to this family to either obtain a new door, or help them put the door in would be greatly appreciated.

I am working with a single mother of 7 children, with minimal support and money- who is in need of child proofing door handles. Some door alarms have already been provided to her, but she could benefit from the door handles as well- to keep her young children inside at all times- as some of her children are very young.

A single mom is in need of assistance, children aged 10, 6 and 2, with cleaning the environment of her home. Due to recent hardship, they are struggling to maintain a clean and safe living environment.

Any assistance with cleaning supplies, volunteer time, or professional cleaning services would make a meaningful difference for this family’s well-being and comfort.

I am currently working with a family of three who are facing financial hardship and are in urgent need of assistance with their utility bills, specifically for water and electricity services. The family is at risk of service disconnection. Household: 1 adult and 1 child and 1 newborn

A family of 6 is currently in emergent need of housing. The family is comprised of two grandparents caring for their four granddaughters; one of which is only a few weeks old. This family has recently been evicted from their home and have been staying in a motel while searching for housing, however, they will no longer have the funds to continue their stay past 6/17. With no housing the children are at risk of coming into foster care as they need a safe environment to reside. This risk could be resolved with the extension of the motel while the Department assists the family in finding housing.

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out on behalf of a dedicated single father who is working hard to provide a safe and stable environment for his two young daughters. He is currently in urgent need of two car seats to ensure his girls can travel safely and legally.

Despite financial challenges, this father is doing everything he can to meet his children’s needs. However, the cost of car seats is currently beyond his reach, and he would be incredibly grateful for any assistance or donation to help secure these essential items.

I am working with a single mother, of three children who has two jobs to support her family. She is in need of some bunk beds, for her daughters room. Any help that could be given to her, would be greatly appreciated.

The mother and 4 children were deemed to have been residing in poor/unsafe living conditions. The building inspector had deemed the residence to be an unsafe structure with multiple repairs needed before the family could reside in the home. As of 06/16/2025, the home was inspected, and the inspector granted the family permission to enter the home because some of the requirements had been completed. The children are in need of appropriate bedding. The beds were deemed unsafe. Bunk beds or twin beds are needed, new or used. The family would need mattresses and appropriate coverings for the beds. The home is also in need of a couch, new or gently used, for the living room area. The couch that is in the home is in poor condition and needs to be transported to the county dump. The mother has no transportation and relies on a friend or anyone that can assist herself and family.

I am working with a teenage girl, and her mother, who are currently experiencing homelessness and living at the shelter. The child does not have access to any electronics, and suffers from mental health disorders. She could benefit from having a kindle or a tablet of some sort to aide in her de- escilating/ calming when needed. She has no resources to aide her in this way currently.

This request is for a family CarePortal has recently helped in the BV area. Five-year-old non-verbal autistic child is on a trial home placement. Services are limited in the area and both the child and mother are utilizing some services that require a bit of travel. Finances are currently strained while they cannot get SNAP for the child, as he is still in foster care. The family paid for travel weekly for 9 months for visitation and parenting courses, which caused the family a financial deficit. The mother cannot work due to the child's high level of needs which prevents him from being successful in a daycare setting. The father works fulltime, but is responsible for covering all the bills, which he does. The child's trial home placement will continue for approximately 3 more months, following which the family will be able to receive benefits for the child. The family is in need of assistance with gas cards to assist with transportation, pull-ups, and groceries. The mother continues to work on toilet training and has been utilizing food banks, but the child is unwilling to eat most foods provided by the food bank. Pull-ups needed are children size XL.

A mom lives in Lynchburg with her 3 children. Her husband is currently incarcerated, leaving her to be the sole provider. Health complications beyond her control caused her to lose her last job. Last month she got a remote job, which will suit her medical needs better, but it will be several weeks before she gets paid and she has no way to make all of this month's rent which is due 6/16 - latest. She is currently searching for a second job to help make ends meet. Thank you for any help you can provide to this mother as she does everything she can to get back on her feet.

We are seeking rental assistance and car repairs for a Mom who is doing anything and everything she can to provide a safe and stable home for her children. Mom recently encountered a setback when the only vehicle broke down, leaving them unable or having to walk to get to work, medical appointments, and transport kids to school and daycare. Despite moms best efforts to maintain financial stability, the unexpected cost of having the vehicle diagnosed and repaired is beyond the Moms means. Without the vehicle, this could result in Mom and boyfriend falling further behind on bills and medical appointments. We are asking for help with getting the care diagnosed and repaired which is an unknown cost, which is why the request will show $10. We are also seeking help with paying rent for this family as they have fallen behind a month due to having to miss work. Having both of these requests filled will help this family with five children get back on track and on their feet.
