Young pregnant Mom has experienced trauma with her last childbirth experience and would like to have a birth doula for support delivering this next baby. Income is poor because husband is between jobs and she stays home to care for her disabled mother She has managed to save some money for birth support but is shy $150 and is asking for monetary donation to help with this medical bill. She also is in need of maternity clothing 2x tops and bottoms (used donation is perfect)

This case was brought to the department following concerns of unsanitary living conditions at the fathers home. The children are now living with their mother in the City of Charlottesville, however, the families goal is to have the fathers home cleaned up so the oldest child can return home with her father. The family is in need of financial assistance, as they have been having issues with their cars and need extra money for repairs. To help offset the cost of those repairs, we are requesting clothing for 2 of the children, which would be helpful as they need new clothes for the summer and before school begins. The oldest is 16 and wears women's size 14-16. The other child is 10 and wears a youth size 12-14.

A mother of two children, 4-years and 9-years. Currently, caretaker is having difficulties in ensuring her children have physical needs. She is committed to ensuring the children are cared for, have their medical needs met, and are safe, but she needs assistance/donations with the following items to reduce stress in the household, and ensure the children have their basic physical needs met:

A 9 year old boy is excited to go to his first sleep away camp and the family needs some help to ensure he is well equipped for his adventures as they are on a strict budget that does not allow them to shoulder some of the additional expenses associated with camp. The family is seeking help with procuring the following items:

sunscreen tennis shoes (size 3) flip flops sleeping bag sheets pillow rain jacket (youth medium) 2 towels bathing suit (size 10-12) flashlight bug spray

Single mom who just moved from another state is in need of a bed and mattress for her 12 year old daughter. This will give her peace of mind knowing her daughter is sleeping well and safe.

Family's AC Unit is not working and due to the high temperatures, we are requesting a portable AC unit for the family of 5 (2 adults-one is pregnant, 3 children - 8 yrs, 6 yrs, and 11 months).

CDSS is working with a twelve year old girl who is in a residential treatment facility out of the area. She has been in foster care for several years, and currently has a goal of Adoption with no adoptive placement identified. The social worker is working to engage with her family and increase her connections. She is going to visit her in the facility on Friday, which is several hours away, and is going to bring two family members of the youth with her. The youth has not met this new social worker before, and it has been a very long time since she has seen these family members. The worker is hoping to bring books and artistic/craft activities, to ensure that the visit is comfortable and that they have things to do. She has learned that the teen likes the "demon slayer" book series and other age-appropriate sci-fi books. We are hoping for assistance in acquiring these items before Friday's visit. A mother and her 8 year old daughter are in need of an AC unit for their townhome. The management of the apartments/townhomes has not been responsive to requests to fix the family's HVAC, and given the recent heatwave, the window units have not been sufficient to adequately keep this mother and daughter safely cool. The air conditioning in the home is currently not functional and the family is relying on two window AC units, one on each floor of the home. There are concerns that this is inadequate to meet the family's needs and the requesting worker observed a layer of moisture on the first floor of the home at a recent home visit and worries about potential mold growth if the home cannot be cooled. This worker is requesting a portable AC unit that can be put in the main living space of the home or in the child's bedroom.

A mother who is working to reunify with her 4 young children, a 10 year old male, and three females ages 8, 7, and 6. The mother reports she will need assistance with securing beds for the children, but she reports she can obtain the other bedroom furniture that they will need. The mother has reported that she has painted and had housing fix the broken parts of her home and she is now ready to start preparing their rooms. The Department is requesting 4 twin beds and 4 twin mattresses. Assistance with bedding and pillows for each child could also be very helpful. Due to the children having special needs, bunk beds are not being requested. Thank you for your consideration!

Seeking support for an 11-month-old baby girl who has been in CDSS care since birth. She is currently placed with her paternal aunt, who has been actively meeting all of the baby’s developmental and emotional needs.

As the baby was born small and has experienced some developmental delays, she has been able to safely use her current sleeping arrangement until now. However, she has grown significantly and now requires a larger crib to continue to meet her needs safely. Her aunt is requesting assistance in providing a new crib for this child. Any support would be greatly appreciated to help ensure her continued growth, safety, and well-being.

CDSS is working with a high needs 16 year old non verbal youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disability, and his 13 year old sister. Their parent is a single mother in need a working washing machine- it does not need to be new. This parent has to do an excessive amount of laundry because of sons needs associated to accidents and behaviors. Also a gas card for assistance with transport for therapeutics services would be helpful for this family. Thank you for your consideration!

I am reaching out to request summer clothing support for a 15-year-old boy through our early prevention program, who is being cared for by a relative to prevent foster care. As we prepare for the warmer months, we are hoping to receive a few essential items to ensure he is comfortable and confident this season.
