I am reaching out on behalf of parents of an 8-year-old boy with significant medical complexity that passed away last month in the hospital. It was a long journey with a prolonged hospital stay prior to his passing causing financial strain. Tragically, this is their second child to die at a young age due to the same genetic condition. While in their time of grief, the family is having difficulty paying the remaining expenses due to the funeral home. The family has a remaining balance of around $2,400 but any amount of support would mean so much to this family.

Jackson County Children's Division is seeking help in supplying a relative placement provider a gift card to either Target, Wal-Mart, or anywhere else that might allow her to purchase the child summer clothing. The child is currently in need of more leggings, athletic shorts, baggy t-shirts, and undergarments. The child has a lot of winter clothing, but not a lot of summer clothing to accommodate the KCMO heat. We as an agency would be more than grateful for any help that is offered by anyone, as any little bit can make a large difference! Reason for urgency: Remaining balance (amount requested) needs to be paid off by July 2nd so mother can move into her new home.

Single mother and her three children need assistance paying off old bills so they can move into permanent housing. Mother is currently staying at a long-term stay hotel where she has been harrassed and attacked at by other guests. She has been staying there after being kicked out of a shelter that was supposed to help her until she found more permanent housing and was allegedly robbed and manipulated by a service provider who took her money (which following a significant period of time was returned) and many of her items (which still have not been returned). However, Mother's section 8 voucher has been granted and she will be able to move into an apartment by the end of the month, but she needs to pay off her past due bills. This request is for assistance with her Spire Bill. Helping her with these bills will finally let the family have a safe home.

We’re hoping to rally some support around an incredible single foster mom who is currently caring for seven amazing kids—yes, seven! She’s doing an incredible job juggling everything on her own, but could really use a little extra help this summer.

Right now, she’s in need of:

🍼 A stroller that can hold a car seat—something that makes outings a little easier and more manageable with the littlest ones in tow. 👗 Summer clothes for her 16-year-old daughter, who wears a junior size 2-3 pants and size medium shirts. Light, breathable clothing for the season would be a huge blessing!

This mama is showing up with so much love and dedication every single day, and meeting these practical needs would go a long way in lightening her load and reminding her she’s not alone.

Hello, I am requesting a $200.00 gift card for a sixteen-year-old young man who resides in a Department of Mental Health Residential Home. He is diagnosed with Autism and uses a communicative device to communicate with others. He enjoys bowling, basketball, going to Get Air Trampoline Park and shopping at Red Rocks Thrift Store. This money will positively impact this young mans life by ensuring that he can spend his summer participating in some of the activities he enjoys.

A 15-year-old female and her 1.5-year-old daughter have been placed with a recently single-parent household and is needing the generosity of the community to help assist with an Evergy utility bill. Their home is disconnected and their current voucher being put towards utilities does not cover the entirety of the bill due to the recent single parent being overwhelmed of taking over this on their own. Proof of bill has been sent to the case manager. This family would be incredibly grateful for any amount to help them off, what is deemed by them, this mountain of a utility bill.

Seeking support for a single mother and her son who are in the final stages of reunification after several years apart due to foster care involvement. This family has worked hard to rebuild their bond and is very close to being together again full-time.

The mother recently secured a new home; however, the refrigerator in the unit is non-functional. In order to ensure a safe and stable environment for her son, we are requesting assistance in obtaining a working refrigerator as soon as possible.

A family of five is requesting assistance with vehicle repairs for a 2014 Ford Escape S. The mother was involved in an automobile accident shortly after purchasing the vehicle, and before it was registered. Due to the nature of the damage, the vehicle will not currently pass inspection and therefore remains unregistered. This has resulted in several traffic tickets as the family has been unable to pay to have the vehicle repaired, and it is the family’s only means of transportation. The family has received an estimate of $1,500 for the vehicle to be repaired in a mechanic shop. The father has indicated that he and his uncle are willing and able to repair the vehicle themselves if they are able to obtain the parts. This family has been working very hard to overcome obstacles and has recently begun a Trial Home Visit. The ability for them to repair their vehicle and have it properly registered will go a long way in reducing stress. Without reliable transportation, the family has difficulty taking their three young children to doctor’s appointments and school/daycare events. This family is humbly requesting support in the form of monetary or labor assistance from a mechanic. Photos of the damage can be provided if needed.

A mother and her 3 children (2, 3 & 5 years old) are at risk of losing their housing due to ongoing housekeeping concerns. She has been working closely with me to improve the condition of the home, and throughout this process, I learned that she doesn’t have many of the basic items she needs to keep things clean and livable. She has no towels or washcloths for herself or the children, and no cleaning supplies beyond the very basics. This family is in need of towels, washcloths, a mop and bucket, cleaning rags, and floor cleaner. Meeting this need will give her the tools to care for her home, support her in maintaining stable housing, and help create a cleaner, healthier environment for her kids.

A grandmother of two young children recently upgraded their beds from two small beds to a twin bunk bed. However, she now needs a mattress for the bottom bunk of the bunk bed. Please help this hard-working grandma provide for her grandbabies by blessing her with a mattress for this bunk bed.

Mom needs help with paying daycare provider. Mom is currently living in a one-bedroom apartment with her two children and another family. Mom works at a restaurant part time and cannot work currently due to being bedside for one of her children. Mom is currently receiving SNAP assistance, but continues to struggle with paying rent at 450.00, and 60 in utilities. Daycare costs are 300.00 a month. Mom has requested immediate assistance for day care, because one of her children is still requiring supervision while she is still at the bedside.
