This request is for a mom and her 3 month old baby boy, who are in desperate need of a new stroller. Mom was previously in an in-patient drug treatment program for parents with her son, where she was provided a stroller to use by the program. Mom has been doing wonderfully and graduated from that program, but she had to give the stroller back when she moved out. Mom is in a new outpatient program and has moved to a sober living facility where she has been able to keep her son with her, but she no longer has a way to safely and comfortably bring her with him when she leaves the facility. A new stroller would open up this family's world and help mom keep her son close and safe. Mom takes public transportation a lot, to get to work and her various services, so a more compact or travel stroller would be ideal. Mom previously had an Evenflo stroller, but she is not picky at all and would be happy as long as she has some kind of stroller - she is willing to make whatever is available work for her and her son! Funding this request helps support a hardworking, dedicated mom in ultimately reunifying with her very young baby boy, who she has fought to show up and be present for since he was removed from her custody shortly after his birth.

Client is a young mother who recently re-entered foster care. During our conversation, the client expressed a need for a crib for her baby. She is currently unemployed, having recently lost her job, and is actively seeking employment opportunities. At this time, she is not eligible for financial assistance through DCFS.

Client shared that obtaining a crib would alleviate a major stressor, allowing her to focus on job searching and stabilizing her situation. The crib is essential for ensuring her baby has a safe sleeping environment. Client is hopeful that, with the right support, she will be able to meet her parenting goals and provide a secure home for her child.

We are requesting immediate support for a homeless mother whose only vehicle is currently out of commission. She has secured a trusted mechanic who is ready to do the work — we simply need help covering the cost of the repair.

Reliable transportation is essential for this mother to ensure her child gets to school on time each day and for her to maintain steady employment. She is working hard to transition out of homelessness, and this car is her only means of transportation.

Without this vehicle, her child’s education and her ability to provide for her family are at serious risk. Your support will remove a major barrier for this family and help them continue moving toward stability and self-sufficiency.

I am requesting assistance with a crib and a mattress for this family. The family is composed of the parents and four children (ages 4y, 6y, 8y, and 11mo). The mother is a stay-at-home mother; the father is employed and is the sole financial provider for the family. The 11-month-old child is currently co-sleeping in the same bed as the parents. The mother requested assistance in obtaining a crib and a mattress for the baby since at this time the parents cannot afford to buy one. If the crib and the mattress are provided to the family, it would ensure a safe sleep environment for the child and it would reduce the risk of SIDS.

The mother is currently working as a security guard and as a Lyft driver for extra income. Mother reported that the family is struggling financially and asked for resources to a food bank. The mother is also requesting $200 gift card to food 4 less.

The mother is incredibly resilient and has navigated many challenges throughout her journey in motherhood. At present, she is unemployed and under significant stress due to the father's absence from the home and his lack of support, particularly in caring for their 6-year-old son, who has been diagnosed with autism and requires high levels of care. The family lives in a single-family home with very worn out and damaged furniture and limited clothing. Currently, the mother shares a mattress with both of her sons and her infant daughter. To help improve their living conditions and promote the children’s safety and comfort, the Department would like to assist the family in obtaining the following items: bedding, and a double seat stroller. By providing these basic necessities would not only ease the mother’s emotional and financial burdens but also allow the children to have their own beds, helping them get proper rest to start their days well. TWO REQUESTS ARE BEING SUBMITTED FOR THIS FAMILY (one for the bedding and a second for the double stroller).

We have a single mother who is in need of a convertible car seat for her son. The mother left the baby’s father who was the abuser. Currently, the baby has a infant car seat that he has outgrown. The mother does not have any family supports in the state and she is currently struggling financially. Mother takes care of the son's basic needs, but she cannot afford anything beyond this. The mother is in the process of going back to school and looking for a job so that she can support herself and her 1-year-old son. The family has access to a bathroom, shower, and electricity, and the mother has been able to prepare family meals in the RV. Housing referrals have been submitted and the mother is working with community partners to locate permanent housing for the family. At this time, the mother is struggling financially to secure tangible goods for the children. The mother expressed one child missing school due to her not having the funds to wash clothes that day. The children have a very limited clothing supply which requires the mother to wash clothes multiple times per week to ensure there are clean clothes for the children to wear to school. We are seeking support with securing clothing and hygiene products for the children at this time. Some of the family’s needs include: soap/body wash, shampoo, deodorant, lotion, laundry detergent, toothpaste, and face and body towels. The family consists of a 26-year-old mother and a newborn. The client is not working and cannot fulfill the baby's needs. The client lives with husband and her four children and has financial difficulties meeting certain basic needs. The client borrow a car seat upon the discharge. The client does not have the funds to purchase a car seat. The family is in need of a car seat to bring the baby home from the hospital and to be able to take the baby to pediatric appointments. The family would benefit from having a car seat for more accessibility in bringing her baby home and getting around with the infant to appointments and running errands. MO and her 5 children have received notice of eviction. MO is unable to work and MO is struggling financially. The family is at risk of homelessness. The children have recently shared that they don't always have enough food to eat.

This request is for assistance with groceries. The family has been referred to food banks in the city of Compton. However, MO does not have means of transportation.
