A loving aunt has been caring for her nephew since his mother passed away in 2018. She only recently made it through the court process to obtain custody and is working tirelessly to ensure her nephew has everything he needs. Her current concern is rent. She is self-employed at a hair salon and has been picking up as many side jobs as possible, but work has been very slow. She has secured a new job but has not started yet and finances are very tight. She was recently given a 3-day notice to vacate and is very concerned about being evicted. Any assistance toward the $1,014 she owes in rent would be greatly appreciated!

Individual separated from his wife for two years and previously lived with his sister in small apartment during that time. He had the prospect of a job on June 1st & showed paperwork to landlord to certify this was so and was granted the one-bedroom apartment for himself & his 12-year-old daughter after a very long search. After orientation at the new job, he found out the job was cancelled. He began searching for another job immediately; found one--which he started today. He will receive his first paycheck on July 3rd, but it won't be enough to cover his rent, which is actually due July 1st (four days from this writing). His paycheck will ultimately cover his rent and other cost of living items, but for now, he's in a difficult situation. He is going to do his best to scrape together money from his side business of detailing cars, but time is limited to do that (there's only one free day before July 1st). I told him that we would try to help him, but there were no promises. I encouraged him to speak to his landlord, too, and find out if there's a grace period. I also prayed with him. Any amount of money would help toward him not losing the apartment he worked so hard to find.

Parents with three children and a disabled grandfather lost their apartment and were displaced due to a fire in their dwelling. They are currently in time of transition from temporary housing to an apartment. They are in need of furniture for their children. Thank you for your consideration and help.

We have a family that is struggling financially and are unable to get a crib, mattress and sheets, for the one-year-old child. The mother is currently unemployed to be able to care for her six children. The only sole provider in the home is the father, and he work as a laborer. However, he has not been able to work much lately due to all the immigration enforcement currently going on in the city. The mother and father are also financially supporting the mother’s 16 years old daughter who has a 7-month-old baby of her own that also resides in the home. Currently, the mother and father are co-sleeping with the one-year-old child. The family is in need of a crib for the one-year-old to sleep independently. Providing these basic necessities would diminish the emotional stressors on the family. By fulfilling this request, it would help the Department reduce the family's financial burden and help prevent court involvement and ensure family stability.

The children entered care due to environmental hazards in their home, including exposure to drugs. As a result of these circumstances, their father—who was the family's primary provider—is currently incarcerated. The children are now living with their aunt and uncle, who are on a fixed income. They are very much in need of a booster car seat for a 5 y/o little boy. This will help the family immensely.

I've been walking alongside an incredible single mom of 5 kids for about a year and half. She successfully completed a program at Leah's Hope (who helps women with children at risk of homelessness.) She has made many sacrifices and exhausted all of her resources to provide for her kids. She's maintaining employment and making progress in her life, but recently, her sister was incarcerated, so she took in her two nephews so they wouldn't have to go into the foster care system. The cost of supporting two additional children has caused a strain on her finances and she has fallen behind on her car payment. Her car is at risk of being repossessed if she does not make a payment of $413. If her car gets repossessed, she would not have transportation to and from work, so she would also be at risk of losing her job. Any help for this amazing mom would be greatly appreciated!

Hello! Church, we have an opportunity to come alongside a single mom who is a member at Wildwood & help support her as she cares for the older bio siblings (brothers ages 9 & 12) of her adopted son. The brothers are still in foster care and need care for a period of 10 days in July. To say yes, the single mom needs childcare for the boys while she is at work. There are openings at a local day camp for both boys. The cost for 7 days of camp for both boys is $700. Please keep this family in your prayers - pray specifically for the time the three brothers will have together. One of our very own families, who faithfully serves every weekend, is currently facing a difficult season. They are in need of support with rent and groceries this month to get back on track and not fall behind.

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to serve two families in our community. While our assistance was very much appreciated, it does not alleviate the on-going need for these families. Both families have young children who are home during the summer months. To ensure that they have access to hot meals during the summer while they are out of school, Heartland is initiating a request to provide food gift cards to each family throughout the duration of the summer.

A father at Point Church has recently regained custody of his three children and could use some clothing items for them. He is in need of a few shirts, a few pairs of shorts, a pair of pajamas, a few pairs of socks and underwear, and a pair of shoes for his 5-year-old daughter (clothing size 5-6, shoe size 11-13), 7-year-old daughter (clothing size 8-10, underwear size 10-12, shoe size 12-13), and 10-year-old son (clothing size 14, shoe size 5). Secondhand clothing in good condition is fine. It would be a blessing for them to have these items by July 11.
