I am submitting a request for a 17 year old youth from Afghanistan who came to the United States seeking refuge. She has been placed in a girls home for over a year and doing very well while priding herself in her academics. The girls home recently made the decision to transfer her to a foster home where she will be receiving more individualized care. The youth is excited for a family experience where she can grow. However, the foster home is too far for the youth to be on her usual bus stop route. Rather than be transferred to a new school at the start of her junior year, where she is so well established, we are requesting the funds for a rapid bus card. This would allow her to continue her education and protect her from another difficult transition. She is a straight A student with dreams of becoming a dentist! We hope this will assist her in reaching that goal. Thank you!

Single parent household with three children. Mom is in between jobs and exploring more flexible employment that allows her to meet her children's needs. One child has ongoing mental health needs. Mom had two utilities shut off but was able to turn them back on with minimum payments. Looking for support with paying off utilities. Consumer's Energy bill of about $400. DTE Energy bill of about $700. Able to get partial coverage for car repair, will owe about $200 for remainder of car repair.

Family is currently experiencing homelessness, but is very close to securing permanent housing with a housing voucher. The main two barriers standing in the way are a small previous water bill and vehicle repairs needed to get to and from appointments. Family has multiple disabled members and income is extremely limited a this time.

I am currently working with a family of five, consisting of four young adult daughters—including one who is nonverbal and autistic—and their dedicated single mother. The mother is currently engaged in a custody dispute with the biological father of one of her children. Although she has maintained primary custody of the child for over three years, the father continues to initiate legal challenges that place ongoing stress on the family. Recently, the mother discovered there is a warrant for her arrest related to unpaid child support—an issue reportedly caused by the father’s actions. In response, she proactively sought community resources and was able to connect with an organization that guided her toward a resolution. She has been given the opportunity to have the warrant dismissed by paying $300 by Monday at noon. Despite her efforts to maintain stability—having already covered monthly rent and essential bills—the mother has fallen short and is now in urgent need of financial assistance to meet this deadline. This support is critical to ensure she can continue providing care and stability for all of her children.

We have a foster child who is 18 months with many medical appointments. There is also a 10-month-old child in the home. It would be very helpful for the family to have a double stroller to use when they are attending the many medical appointments, as well as for daily life with two little babies.

Mom has 8 boys, 3 of which have sensory issues and do not like to wear clothing. One of the boys is supposed to start kindergarten this fall. The family could benefit from sensory specific clothing from Target (Cat and Jack brand) or Amazon or a gift card to purchase the items. The sizes are 4T, 4/5, and 24 months. This family has an infant in the home and are in need of a specific baby gate to fit in their home. The family has a set of stairs that are needed to be gated and their current baby gate does not correctly fit in the stairway. This will help allow the family to preserve placement and keep the child safe in the home.

Single mother of 7 children is finally moving home after being homeless for roughly 6 months. Her biggest need in transitioning into housing is beds for her and the children. She is open to either 8 twin beds or 4 king beds.

We are heartbroken to share that one of our student's families has suffered a devastating loss. The student’s mother has passed away after a long, brave battle. Despite every effort and all the love and support surrounding her, she peacefully passed with her loved ones by her side.

Her oldest daughter has now taken guardianship of our student and is doing her best to navigate this incredibly difficult time. The family is in urgent need of support to help cover cremation expenses and other essential bills during this transition. They are still in need of significant support but any support will help.
