This family is currently homeless, living in a hotel with three young children. Mom is currently relying on food pantries around the county and has been struggling to keep up with hotel fees. The family was out on the street asking for money to avoid ending up in the mission. Mom is concerned about being able to provide food for the next couple of days. I am requesting financial help for toiletries and food.

I am requesting help for a 1.5 year old who recently has gotten braces for both of her feet. The family does not always consistently send the child in shoes and I would like to be able to provide the family with shoes. Shoes are especially important considering her class goes out for recess twice a day (weather permitting). It has been also recommended by the doctor that the child wears shoes with her braces. The child needs size 7 toddler and wide or extra wide shoe. I had luck finding this on the New Balance website. Go To Link

We are working with a mother who has a 6 y/o child who disclosed. This family has had an unexpected expensive housing costs come up, on top of other expenses stemming from the disclosure.

We are asking for a $100 Meijer gift card to supplement funds for basic needs and food during this time.

Over two years ago a local family lost their home to a housefire. They were not adequately insured and have had unstable housing, moving around from motel to motel. The family of 6 currently resides in a motel. After the dad secured better, more consistent employment, the family has finally been able to sign a lease on a large apartment. The plan is for them to move in early June. The family lost most household items in the housefire that initially deemed them homeless. Due to a large security deposit and first months rent, which the family has saved for, they could really use some support furnishing the home. The family would be grateful with any new or gently used items to help furnish the home.

A single parent to three young children is struggling to make ends meet, due to circumstances beyond their control. They are requiring a gas card to get the children to school (they live outside of the bus route) as well as a gift card to a local grocery store (Meijer or Walmart) to purchase daily necessities such as cleaning supplies, hygiene products, etc. When this need is met, it will remove barriers in getting the children to school and improve their overall wellbeing.

At Lighthouse Immigrant Advocates, we’ve had the privilege of walking alongside a courageous Mexican family who legally applied for asylum in the U.S. and are now eligible to work. Over the past six months, they’ve done everything right—securing stable housing, building community connections, and supporting their three children through odd jobs and the generosity of neighbors—while patiently waiting for permission to work.

Despite the barriers, this family just reached a major milestone: paying full rent for their own apartment. They are determined, law-abiding, and ready to take the next step—but they can’t do it alone.

To work legally, Mom and Dad must now apply for their work permits. The fee is $370 per person—an amount out of reach for a family still climbing out of survival mode. Once they’re working, their plan is to save their first paychecks to apply for their 17-year-old daughter’s permit, so she can help support their household too. They both have jobs lined up and ready to start working the day they receive their work permits.

LIA has reduced its legal fees to the bare minimum and will continue to walk with this family through the end of their case. What they need now is help clearing this last hurdle. This is a direct investment in their ability to become independent and build lasting stability for their three kids—and we can’t wait to see them thrive in this next chapter.

A foster family who has 9 children in the home, is taking pre-adoptive placement of a 10th child. This child has high supervision needs and part of his safety plan is to have cameras throughout the main areas of the home. The family is requesting help obtaining a set of cameras. This child also requires his own bedroom as part of his safety plan. Because of this, the family has to make many movements in sleeping and bedroom arrangements. They are requesting help obtaining a twin bed and a dresser for his new bedroom. The family does not have any specific ones picked out for these items.

Mother and 9 year old daughter are applying for housing after being displaced from their previous housing following the daughter disclosing. We are asking for a $50 Meijer gift card to help out with basic needs and food. This gift card will help alleviate financial burden during the housing search.

We are looking to find a piano keyboard for a 16-year-old youth, who is seeking a way to add some tools in his coping skills, as well as a way to connect with his family. This youth employs music and has verbalized that this addition would be a huge benefit to his mental health.

The mother of a middle school student in our programs is trying to get her to Grace Adventure Camp Horse Camp this summer! The scholarship still left $200 to pay, which isn’t accessible for the family. We’re asking for help to cover half of what’s left. Her parents are split up with multiple kids but are trying to surprise her with something special - can we help make that happen? She has been a consistent participant in our after school program and shown growth and enthusiasm

This family is in great need of items we were not able to provide via our school care services. The items are basic needs that will help them get through the school year and in to summer.

Biological mother is in need of assistance with vehicle issues. Th vehicle is in need of repairs that are approximately $2,000. This quote was give by Hank's Auto Service. This vehicle is the mother's primary mode of transportation and she is in need of a working vehicle to ensure she is able to maintain her employment as well as continue to transport her children to/from their appointments. This mother has continued to work diligently to rectify barriers that brought her children into care. We are approaching a reunification and having a vehicle is vital for her to continue making progress on barriers and support the reunification of her and her 3 children. If any church would be willing to donate to help pay for the repairs, or volunteer to assist with the labor involved in fixing the vehicle, that would be very appreciated. Thank you for considering!
