Help Prevent a Child From Entering Foster Care

High Urgency Request
We have an Uncle that took in his niece and nephew to prevent the children going into foster care. He has had the children for a few weeks and we determined this may be a long term situation (over 6 months). The children need bed frames and mattresses. The two year old girl is sleeping in a pack and play. The seven year old boy is sleeping on a cot. If anyone can donate a toddler bed frame, a twin/ full size bed for the 7 year old, and mattresses, the relative would really appreciate the assistance. The family is also open to bunk beds if that is available. Please reach out if you can assist with used beds or new beds. Thank you!

DCCCA is working with a family who has been homeless for 9-months and the family has been separated for the past few months with children saying at a friends home and mom staying with different family members and sleeping in her care at times. Mom does work full-time but has had a difficult time finding affordable housing. Mom has found a home and been accepted to move in as soon as she can pay the deposit and a month of rent up front. The family is hoping to move in as soon as possible because the family the children have been staying with will be leaving town next week leaving the children with no place to go. If the family is not able to get into housing soon there will likely be court involvement which always leads to the risk of the children being removed. We know $1,125 is a very large amount but having the first months rent will allow the family to move in as soon as possible and will give the family stability to being working on other goals to continue to increase their stability.

Critical Request
A sweet grandmother has recently taken custody of her three grandchildren. The children have been placed into foster care, but the grandmother has opened her doors and allowed the children to be placed in her small home. The children do not have beds and have been sleeping on an air mattress. The sibling group is in need of a bunk bed for the two boys ages 12 &16 and a twin size bed for the girl age 8. The bedrooms are fairly small so twin bunkbeds would be best. The children will also need twin size mattresses for the beds, sheets, comforters & pillows. If you are able to assist this family with beds during this difficult time or know of someone who can assist with this need, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You so much!

DCCCA Family Preservation is hosting our 3rd Annual Christmas Party for the at-risk families we serve. This event gives families the opportunity to step away from their stressful life events, even for just a short while, to have a joyful evening full of fun, food, and festivities. This event can help form positive core memories for vulnerable children -- many who experience extreme poverty and would love nothing more than some bonding time with their parents to play games, have a nice meal, sing and even laugh together. DCCCA is a nonprofit organization; therefore, we rely on the generosity of the community to help fund our events. Donated funds will help us purchase the food, paper goods, and other essential items. If you are able, please consider helping us bring smiles and laughter to the faces of many children as we share with them the magic and joy of Christmas. Thank you for all you do for the community! Hello! I have a 17 year old youth who would like to graduate high school by May 2023. Once this semester is over, she will meet all qualifications except her second semester Geometry B class. Unfortunately since she is taking online classes, her school district does not offer this course. She will have to take the class online elsewhere and that's where Greenbush Academy comes in. This program allows youth in Kansas to take online school courses and she could take this class for $225! She has a strong work ethic and is employed full-time while attending online high school classes. I know she could easily pay for this herself but I do not want her to have to pay this herself. Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Placement is the 65 year old great grandmother of four kids under the age of 5, three of which reside with her in a relative placement and one that is being moved to her care but is not there full time yet. She also provides full time care for an elderly friend with high medical needs. The family was receiving money during the 90 day licensing process but something happened and the licensing worker dropped the ball. The last check she received was for $28 and that was for diapers for the 1 year old. She is set to start receiving maintenance checks again on the 15th of November. The family is in danger of losing their home because the landlord is threatening to evict over charges accrued without her knowledge. The property management changed offices and she was not informed of the new mailing address. Despite being able to pay the past rent and the rent for the next two months, the landlord has given them a three day notice to get the money to pay the fees or they will change the locks and she and everyone else in her care will be homeless with no relatives able to accommodate all five of them under their roof. We are trying to preserve placement so that the siblings can remain in the home with family and not be split up. One of the children has developmental needs and fares better without change and there are no funds to put the ailing adult into a home outside of the one she resides in.

Kinship foster home is requesting help getting dressers for the children's rooms. They are caring for 3 foster children (2 girls and a boy), in addition to their own, and proper clothing storage is necessary for the licensing process. The family is requesting fairly specific dressers that they had previously been trying to save up to purchase themselves. The dressers they picked out are from Amazon and links to the dressers are below - 2 black and 1 brown. ###-####74&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1(###) ###-####271791111&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1020414&hvtargid=pla-(###) ###-####65&psc=1 ###-####74&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1(###) ###-####271791111&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1020414&hvtargid=pla-(###) ###-####65&th=1
