Platte County has a small food pantry cabinet that needs restocked. We are requesting non-perishable, but microwavable items. Such as Chef Boyardee cups/meals, mac-n-cheese cups, Hormel Complete Meals, etc.; also peanut butter and jelly are good options. Please nothing that has to be refrigerated or frozen as we do not have space to keep that and neither do some families. Please nothing that requires added ingredients, except water.

A single mother and her 3 year old daughter are in temporary housing due to a fire at their home. The family is struggling financially and the mother is trying to get back on her feet. The 3 year old needs clothing and mom also needs assistance for Christmas.
A gift card to Walmart or Target would help cover Christmas. The 3 year old wears size 6/7 girls, and loves bright colors. Shoe size is size 11. Thank you!

Hi there, we would love to help out. Is the clothing for the 3 year old separate from the size 6/7 clothing - just confused that those were separate boxes to check. Let me know how we can get this to you/how much in gift cards vs. clothes. Thanks!
I am working with a single mom and her 2 children who are living in a trailer. Mom struggles financially and is on a tight budget. The childrens father is involved periodically but does not help mom fianancially. Mom's trailer is older and has needed a number of repairs since she moved in. Most of her monthly income goes to cover lot rent for the trailer. At this time, this is their only housing option. Mom recently got water again, however the hot water tank on the trailer is not working so they do not have any hot water. I got an estimate on a new tank and installation from a plumber that is sadly higher than I expected. The water heater has a whole in it and needs to be replaced at a cost of $600. The labor cost is $250. I am putting in a request for help with any part of this cost. I will look for other funding resources to cover the amount that is left. I am appreciative of any help with this.

This family had their rent money stolen recently and need help paying their rent so they don't get evicted. They are also lacking money for diapers for a young child (size 5 diapers please). Meeting these needs will help ensure the family is able to stay in their home and can provide for the children in the home. Please contact me for the family's contact information. A family of 5 is currently in desperate need of financial assistance with an overdue electric bill ($3,700) and an $800 phone bill as soon as possible. They were staying with the wife's mother, but were recently told that only the children could stay. This forced the husband and wife to go back to an unlighted home, and they are currently living by candlelight (have been since Thursday 9/29). Both husband and wife are unemployed. The husband is interviewing this Wednesday, but the wife is currently awaiting medical clearance to start back at Amazon after an osteoarthritis flair up.
We responded to a CarePortal request for this family back in September. Bio family had just reintegrated with their two female children ages 5 and 4 and were needing help with rent and two dressers. We were able to connect on both of the needs and met this sweet family in person to deliver the items. Soon after, a car battery installation was needed and before we even had a chance to have one of our volunteers get over there to help, dad had already taken care of it himself. They have a strong desire to be independent.
We have been staying in touch with them and they recently let us know that the vehicle had broken down for good. Thankfully, they have another car they can use if the past due payment on it is made. They are able to afford the monthly payments on their own, they just need help getting caught up. Any amount is appreciated and will help get them closer to self-sufficiency again.
As a previous worker at Children's Division I know first hand the stress and hard work these workers go through. I would love to spread some love to the local Children's Division office downtown KC by supplying them with an Ice Maker. This seem like a small thing but they have been needing an ice maker since I was there 2 1/2 years ago and even before then. They have an older fridge that they have some ice trays in the freezer but that is not enough for everyone to add some ice to their beverages. An Ice maker would be a huge blessing to these workers as they can grab ice and water on their way to their next visit. They could grab ice for the soda donated to them from churches.
I have done some research on ice makers and have found a few that could work for their break room space. I am asking $500 for the ice maker and an additional $500 to help cheer up their break room adding new chairs, tables and items to make it feel more inviting and comfortable.
These items could go a long way for these workers and just in time for the hot days coming up! Thank you!
A single mother with two sons, 10 yrs and 7 yrs is in need of assistance with rent. This mother of two loss employment brought on by the pandemic and struggles with getting a job. This has caused her to fall behind in her rent and is urgently in need of assistance to avoid eviction.
We are working with a single mom with 3 children and has been homeless for about 5 months. She recently found employment and is doing her best to get back on her feet. Unfortunately her car has recently broken down and is at risk of losing her job. We helped her get her car in for an assessment and unfortunately the repair costs exceed the value of the vehicle. We are looking for a vehicle donation, or to raise the funds to cover the cost of an older Explorer model along with any additional costs for repair of the replacement vehicle. Reliable transportation is so critical to helping families regain and sustain stability; we would really love to be able to bring some good news to this mother. Thank you so much for considering this need!
The mother on this case has completed all services and is close to reunification with her son. The mother utilizing a car that her father provided her to assist with reunification but he is now wanting it back leaving this mother without proper transportation. The mother has a Jeep Grand Cherokee that has been sitting for a year. She has put in a new battery, alternator, starter, serpentine belt tensioner pulley and harmonic balancer. She changed all the spark plugs, put on new coil packs, new head gaskets and timing chain. She has put on a new cherry bomb straight pipe muffler, changed out 2 or 3 sensors. The drivers side inside door panel wont stay on and the cv boots and knuckles are bad on the front. The four wheel drive is in 2 wheel bc the joint and shaft busted and were removed. The shaft is in the back. the right tire is flat too. The mother makes about 1000 a month and is needing help with her car to make sure she is able to take her son to school, school activities and to his regular doctors appointments. The mother has tried everything she can to get the car working again but needs help to figure out what is wrong with it or to find a car she can afford on her own.
UPDATE: Our team from New Life CityChurch helped assess the vehicle and have determined that the necessary repairs exceed the value of the vehicle. We found a 2014 Chevy Cruze with 66k miles worth about $6k-$8k available for purchase for only $3,000. We have $1,000 of funding from the original request (63649, We are trying to raise the other $2,000 to take advantage of this great opportunity to the purchase the Chevy for this mom so she can finally have her own reliable transportation for her and her son.
