Parents are behind on utility bills, 198.45 for electric and 610.96 for gas. Children are currently placed out of the home with relatives, however, if the utilities get shut off parents will not be able to have visits in the home and it could hinder reunification as parents could be subject to eviction for having the utilities shut off. Parents are actively involved with the case and doing all services asked of them to reunify with their children. Having the utilities shut off could be a detriment for the case and cause possible delay in reunification.

A 17-year-old girl, eldest of her family, expressed feeling frustrated because her car needs repair. At 17, there are a lot of things she is buying for her senior year that she needs money for (college applications, basketball shoes, fees on her school account, senior pictures, etc) but without a car she is hardly able to work as she has no way to get there. She lives in a single parent household with four siblings and helps mom with running errands and taking kids to and from school. This young woman is a A+ student and is very involved in her community. She said it would be a little over $250 to fix her car but any assistance would help tremendously.

One of the children has medical issues that require a G-Tube. The family lives in a low-income area in Belton. The family has been having cockroach infestation issues. The landlord has refused to fix the issues himself. They got rid of the roaches once, but they came back due to them still being in the neighborhood. It is very clear after meeting with the family that this a poverty issue and not a neglect issue. The family lost a child back in 2016 and has been taking care of the other 5 children as best as they can. The estimated initial cost would be $275. He also stated that upkeep would be $85 every three weeks, but obviously the initial cost would be the most important and most expensive.

High Urgency Request
disabled Mother of 4 children with high behavioral needs is in IMMEDIATE need of rental assistance. Mother works from home and is heavily involved in the community but through a mix of needing to take time off for her kids' appointments and her car needing repair (which made her give up her side job of doing deliveries until it could be repaired), she got behind on her rent payments. Furthermore, her apartment routinely stacks late fees onto her balance, so she is further stretched. She has paid off $1300 of the amount but was informed today that she has 72 hours (11/10/2023) to pay off the remaining balance or she will be evicted. If this amount can be paid off, not only will this secure housing for a family of five, it will allow her children to stay and receive mental health care). If balance can be paid off, mom will also not have to worry about late fees. and can begin saving her money for future emergencies, as opposed to constantly playing catch up.

I work with a family who has a child with complex medical needs. The 4 boys were on 2 bunk beds, but both of the bunk beds have broken and are not safe for all 4 boys to sleep. Therefore, currently 2 of the boys are sleeping on the floor. The single mother is asking for assistance purchasing 2 new bunk bed sets. The ones she had were wood and she believes metal would be a better fit for their needs. I saw several twin over twin metal bunk beds for around $150 each.
