We have experienced an increase in domestic violence cases the past several months, and at times we are placing kids with relatives or an abused person is staying in the home while filing an ex parte. We are hoping to get some supplies in the office to help supply some needs that could assist with safety. We plan to include a list of tips to help a family buy some time if their abuser breaks into the home. Unfortunately, we have had a few cases that could have used some extra safety measures and might have made a difference to the outcome. I am asking for a few supplies for us to be able to give to some families if needed in an emergency situations. All items can be found on amazon. Thank you!

We have a parent who has visits each week with his child, and due to a financial hardship has less income the next few weeks and they asked for some help to provide food for their visit. They asked if we could get a gift card to Wendy's to help out. The parent views having a meal together with their child as important bonding time. They have not asked for help prior to this and have always provided before.

An 18-year-old male in a two-parent household is needing the community's assistance in obtaining groceries for their home. This older youth has had an incident of racoons falling through his ceiling in his room of their apartment home. Due to this incident, the family is re-locating to another apartment advised by their landlord but is needing support in obtaining groceries while the family replaces their son's belongings that were contaminated by the racoons. Any help would greatly benefit this family. The 18-year-old has just graduated from High School and is actively participating in the employee council to obtain employment, on top of applying to nearby areas.

Family of four (one mom, three teenage children) whose youngest son suffers from significant cognitive delays due to autism. He is prone to hyperactivity and aggression when frustrated. His constant supervision and care needs have put significant burdens on the family. The family is engaged with caseworkers, however, the son's aggression led him to break his mother's phone (Samsung Galaxy A16 5G) causing issues with the consistent communication needed to help coordinate his care needs across multiple areas. She has recently gotten it repaired but was interested in getting a durable case, preferably one with a screen protector to prevent her son from breaking it further as this has been an ongoing issue with her phone and other electronics in the home.

A pregnant mom of three was put on bedrest due to bleeding and is therefore unable to keep working. She has fallen behind on bills. She left an abusive relationship and doesn't have support. Help paying her car payment would allow her to keep her car so she can attend OB appointments.

Mother just gave birth to her 2nd baby been out of work, She has been sent termination notice on gas bill that is all that is left unpaid, and she is needing all the assistance she can get for her gas bill.

I am working with a single mom of 3 children who is requesting help with an overdue Spire gas bill. Mom reports she was supporting a child with mental health issues and missed some work. She was also finishing up nursing school and now has a full-time job in General Surgery with Advent Health. Mom reports she fell behind on the bill due to missing work to care for her child and her Gas was shut off yesterday. Mom contacted LIHEAP yesterday and they will cover $300.00 of her total bill. I am requesting $627.00 to the remainder of her bill. Mom feels moving forward she will be better able to keep up on her bills with her current job.

Family of 4 (mother and three children) are in need of assistance paying for rent deposit. Children's Mercy follows child (aged 6) for type 1 diabetes. Mother is her sole caregiver for managing her diabetes. Family has found a home through Section 8 but needs assistance with paying portion of the rent deposit. Mother states that she is able to pay a portion but not all of the rent deposit and is requesting assistance.

Help assist a 17-year-old girl in foster care with getting her hair braided. This youth would like assistance getting her hair done so that she can look presentable as she attends job interviews. This youth has someone able to braid her hair and needs assistance getting the needed materials:

Our clinic is assisting a young single mom to be who is one payment away from being caught up on car payments. She is working full time and has a plan in place with her maternity home to budget and save for arrival of baby once this car payment is made. Thank you!

A 12-year-old child is placed in a Department of Mental Health home to meet her needs as she has several diagnoses including autism spectrum disorder. This child has a history of causing damage to her mattress, boxspring, and bedframe; most recently she has torn her mattress apart, making it impossible to sleep in.
