She’s not asking for much—just enough support to bridge the gap and maintain a roof over their heads. Our request stems from the real-life challenges we witness when beginning our journey with a young adult. Often, they face urgent needs upon first being matched with a Mentoring Family, basic necessities that can’t wait. While navigating life, additional hardships may arise.

Having gift cards readily available allows us to respond quickly to these moments of crisis. They can ease the burden on Mentoring Families, meet immediate essentials, and serve as a lifeline for young adults in distress. Sometimes, a simple act of support can make the difference in helping a young person recover from a difficult situation and continue moving forward on their path to independence and thriving.

I’m reaching out to request support with essential items for a newly placed sibling group that has just arrived in my care. This group includes four children:

A 16-year-old girl (plus-size, clothing size 18–20 wide)

A 10-year-old boy (clothing size 14–16 youth or XXL youth)

A 9-year-old girl (clothing size 10–12)

A 6-year-old girl (clothing size 7–8)

As we work to help them settle in and feel safe, I’d greatly appreciate any assistance with the following specific items:

Items Needed:

Bathing suits for all four children (sizes above)

Lotion, shampoo, and conditioner (sensitive skin-friendly, if possible)

Beach toys (buckets, shovels, sand molds, etc.) for play and sensory regulation

If any of these items are available through donations or community partners, it would make a meaningful difference. I’m happy to coordinate pickup or provide further details if needed.

We have a female youth who has graduated from Southwest Magnet High School. The youth will be attending Savannah State University Fall 2025. The foster youth is currently in need of items for her dormitory. The youth is currently in need of purple dormitory decor. The youth is is need of desk lamps, iron/iron board, additional school supplies, 20 amp surge protector, bath towels, bath mat, chest case/ storage bins, laundry bags /basket storage container.

We are submitting a follow-up request on behalf of a family who has previously received support through CarePortal. Unfortunately, their situation remains challenging. The husband continues to be detained at Stewart Detention Center, despite the family's efforts to secure legal representation. The mother, who is doing her best to care for the family, recently had to spend $400 on an eye exam and glasses, which placed additional strain on their already limited finances. The glasses are essential to her youngest child as she receives special education services. At this time, the family is seeking support to cover a Georgia Power bill totaling $211.
