Local police reported that there was a car-to-car shooting on November 22, 2021. The suspects chased each other in their cars and one ended up colliding and totaling a parked pick-up truck. The truck (1995 Nissan Standard Cab) was owned by a father, who is a long time community member, a landscaper, and sole provider for his family of 5. Since his truck was totaled, the collision has left him without means to get to work and support his family. The father is desperate to get another pick-up truck type of vehicle as he needs it for his landscaping work. He and his wife have 3 children and appreciate any assistance.

This family has been compliant with all recommended services, and their case is close to successful termination. IHOC submitted a request for an emergency refrigerator, as agency discretionary funds were available at the time of the request. However, it was later discovered that the funds were not available. There is no time to request a refrigerator from the county, as this case will be closing soon, but the family has an emergency need. Mother is most concerned for her three children under ten years of age, as they drink milk on a daily basis.

Caregiver in the process of adopting a 1 year old child she and her husband have cared for since placed in their care...for the last year caregiver has provided a safe, stable home and environment and met all of the child's needs with love and care. Recently she needed to move out and separate from her husband. They have been living in a hotel due to financial barriers and limited resources. Through reslience and perserverence, the caregiver was able to save enough money for a deposit and first month's rent to locate to an apartment in Englewood. However, she has not been able to purchase any appliances for their new home. She needs a stove and a refrigerator.

A has been in foster care since October 2019. A's three sisters have been placed in a different foster home than A because A has special mental health needs. A's mother has made significant progress in her case plan, and the Department is considering returning A to her mother's home. The hope is that A can stabilize in her mother's home and her sisters can return to their mother's home shortly thereafter. However, the Department is now claiming that they cannot move forward with this plan until A's mother replaces her living room carpet. A's mother works a full-time, minimum wage job and cannot afford the carpet replacement at this time. Making matters worse, a 14-day notice was given for A's placement, so if she cannot return to her mother's home, she will need to move to another foster care placement -- her sixth placement in two years. The area of carpet in need of replacement is approximately 12'x10'.

The family we are working with have been without a working stove for a year. Mom is currently unemployed, and unable to work as she is the primary caregiver for her son with Down Syndrome. The family is currently experiencing hardships, environmental trauma and health related challenges. She buys food daily for her family which is very expensive as she has no ability to prepare healthy home cooked meals. The only time that she has a home cooked meal is when she visits her mother or another relative. Mom would be very appreciative, she would be able to prepare a Thanksgiving meal for her family and continue to have the ability to cook daily for her children. Family is requesting cookware also. Thank you for considering this request.

Working with a full-time mother of 2 children in the home. Father was the primary source of income but had fewer work opportunities due to COVID-19. This family does not make sufficient income to purchase items. Parents are struggling to provide for the family. This assistance would support a family with the youth's overall well-being. Bed and bedding would allow the child to have a comfortable area to sleep and keep warm in the cold weather. Clothes would enable youth to be appropriately dressed and relaxed. Support with toiletries would help the family maintain basic healthy hygiene as the family struggles to make the purchases. Blankets would help keep the family warm during the fall/winter season.
