We have a family that has found housing! We are so excited to see that families are finding housing, however they now face the task of finding items that need to go in the house because they were not able to store everything. There is a grandmother that has guardianship of two boys (Grade 3 & 5). She has found housing, but needs beds for the boys. They have been sleeping on the floor. Their new bedroom has a ceiling that comes down on a slant, and she thinks that a Futon might work better in the room. She said she would be so grateful to get two Futons, or a regular twin if those are not available. She said they are also in need of living room furniture and a small dining table. Any small end tables or furniture are appreciated. Habitat has items that can be discounted. The family is coming to this home from the shelter, and they understand it may take time to get some of these items, but she is most concerned with the boys. They love school and wanted help immediately transportation because they did not want to miss school. They didn't want to move into their new home until bussing was set up. The grandmother is doing the best she can with their situation, but it is the same as many others. The boys lost their mother in 2016, and the grandmother was recently struggling to keep up with the rent when the house was sold. If you are able to help, you will enjoy meeting this grandmother and enjoy her positive attitude. She love these boys and hopes to give them a bright future! Updated on November 28, 2023 by an Agency Worker Family could also use a couch because they are renting one, a table and chairs also. She also said they need dressers.

Based on our latest data from our community homeless shelters, we have approximately 55-60 children who will be staying in a homeless shelter over Christmas. These children are often in the shelter with very little clothes, very few personal items if any and are calling a hotel room, home for the holiday.
We would like provide these children and families with a Christmas party. We would like to enlist the help of our church partners to help us collect donated new toys for children ages infant to high school to be given out at the Shelter Christmas party. We would need all toys to be donated no later than Friday December 15th. Items such as Infant & Toddler toys, books, hot wheels, barbies, jewelry making kits, art/craft supplies, sports equipment like footballs, board games, handheld electronic games, gift cards, music, body sprays, etc.

Caregiver of two children needs to have a medical procedure done. With the procedure, the caregiver will be out of work for recovery. Caregiver is asking for help with living expenses while they are out of work (est. $1,000). There is a court hearing Monday, November 27th, CPS has asked for supports for the family to keep the children in the home.
Caregiver is scheduled for surgery in the beginning of January. The courts relayed that funds are not available as caregiver has custody and not the agency.
A mother recently obtained her son back into her care. She works but most of her income goes towards rent. She won't be able to add him to her benefits case for the next month so she is in need of assistance to help her maintain and provide for him. She is in need of a high chair, as she states it is difficult to feed him while he's sitting on her lap. She is also in need of baby items such as baby lotion and baby wash, size 6 diapers and wipes. She could also use help with a Winter Coat for him. He is in a size 3T. He is also in need of some size 3T Winter Clothing, as she only has Summer clothes for him. These items will help her to be able to get back on her feet and will help in the overall care of her son.

Is the mother able to make it to our food pantry? It's tomorrow morning (Wednesday), 9:30 (ish) to noon. If she can get there early, she would get a good supply of groceries, including cereal, veggies, and protein.

We can get them started with a few new clothes. I would also recommend they look into the Blessing Closet at Restoration Hillside, next one is Jan 24th.
