Help Prevent a Child From Entering Foster Care
A 14-year-old youth is entering an alternative living arrangement to avoid coming into children services custody and to enable the youth to have their needs met. They are in need of some items to assist with their care. This youth has some personal limitations that impact their ability to live independently and requires 24-hour 2:1 staff. The youth's parents are employed; however, they have limited means to provide the needed items. Donation of these items will help this youth live as independently as possible in their community.

Help Preserve a Kinship Placement
Grandma is the dedicated kinship caregiver to her developmentally disabled 3-year-old grandson. The two recently moved to a new home that has train tracks behind it. Understandably, grandma has concerns over the child playing outside in their yard without a fence. Therefore, she is in need of help paying for a chain-link fence that will keep him safely in their yard. She has contacted several local companies for estimates and the lowest one she received was $700. Any help with this request would be greatly appreciated and make a huge difference for the family.

Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
A growing population of high school students are Unaccompanied Youth. These are high school age students that do not have a parent or guardians in their life. The parents are often times left the community, serving time in prison, or have died. Many of these students are "couch surfing" between friends, or living in their cars. Unfortunately, with the limited homelessness shelters in the Springfield community, no facilities will take students under 18 without a parent or guardian. Many of these students may be working, but it is not enough to support their basic expenses. As a special project for the high school, they are gifting students who are really trying to make it on their own with kits to set them up with housekeeping when the students are fortunate enough to find a place to live. We have funding and donations to provide basic household items. We would like to provide them with a $25 gas card or a $25 grocery card to help them get started on their independent living opportunity. Therefore, we are requesting CarePortal assistance to provide $25 gift cards for gas or groceries (Walmart, Meijer, Kroger). These starter kits will help the students have a good start to their new opportunities. With this added support, we hope the students will be able to complete their education and lean on the support team we are putting in place to support them.

Help Improve a Child's School Attendance
A family of three, a mother and her two children, no longer has access to transportation, and is in need of a bus pass to help them get the child to school and to needed appointments. She is not able to work at this time, and states that a bus pass would be helpful to her helping her get her 4-year-old to school and be able to take them to appointments. Currently the whole family is sick with the flu. The baby could also use some diapers (size 6) and wipes. I asked and she confirmed that they could use some warm blankets, because they are all using one right now, and any sized blankets she said would be greatly appreciated. I asked if they could also use some clothes, and she said yes if it is possible. Clothes that can be layered would be best seeing that the seasons are changing soon. The 1-year-old boy wears a size 2T, and the 4-year-old girl wears a 5T, and the mother wears a woman's medium.

62158505- A caregiver contacted OhioKAN for assistance with finding an agency that can help with a computer/work desk for his 11-year-old nephew. The caregiver cares for his nephew full-time. The child needs a computer/work desk to have a designated area to complete schoolwork and activities. Despite his best efforts to maintain a stable home and meet the needs of the child, the uncle’s limited income prevents him from affording a computer/work desk at this time. Any assistance that this caregiver can get during this time for the child would be greatly appreciated.

Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
Children in a blended family are in need of clothing to improve their overall well-being. Parents/caregivers recently went from 4 children in the home full time to 7 children in the home full time. One parent/caregiver works full time while the other is currently going to college to obtain a degree and is only able to pick up part time work. The parents/caregivers have been able to focus on meeting all of the children's immediate needs such as shelter, food, and medical, but have struggled to get all of the children new clothes. The children's clothes are too small or worn down and in need of replacements. Fulfilling this request will significantly alleviate stress on the family and help improve all of the children's overall well-being. Help Improve a Child's Wellbeing
Hello, The family is in need of household items for the children, such as shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, soap, body wash, deodorant, feminine products. Mother has recently reunified with her children, however, it is taking time for benefits to be transferred to her name. Mother also requested assistance for her daughter's birthday, she just turned 14 years old a couple of days ago and she was not able to get her a gift. Providing these resources will strengthen the family and assure that girls can come to school in clean clothing and showered. Thank you very much.
