Good afternoon and thank you for your time. I am working a deprived case involving two small children, ages 2 and 3 yrs. in OKDHS custody. The children are thriving in their foster home. I am working with the biological parents to assist them in making the necessary behavioral changes, to work on bringing the children home. The children are in a relative foster home (widowed grandmother) and have been here since they came into DHS custody (app 1 year). Foster mom works hard to ensure all of the children’s needs are taken care of. Foster mom recently has had a lot of unexpected car repairs, ($460.00) and is currently starting a new job. Foster mom has already attempted to request help from family members but is unable to receive the financial help from them at this time. Foster mom has secured a new job recently but will need some time to get back on her feet. Foster mom is unable to pay her rent (water included) for the month of December 2023.The total amount foster mom owes is $963.00 due by December 3, 2023. If foster mom is able to get partial assistance $400 she believes she may be able to get the rest through her bank.

A young mother recently began trial reunification with her children after diligently working a treatment plan; gaining employment; and securing safe housing for herself and her child (all with little to no support). However, this mother needs community assistance. From 11/20-11/27 the family lived in a hotel as their apartment building was experiencing issues with their electrical wiring. The apartment complex was unable to provide the family more than 2 days of funding to say in the hotel, so the mother funding most of the stay. As a result, she is short on her $700 rent payment. This family is back home with fully-functioning utilities and she’s returned to work; but her check will not cover the cost of rent. Any and all assistance in helping cover the $700 rent would make an immediate impact on this family, and allow them continue their trial reunification.

The department is working with a family that is in need of a tablet to help with attending services, setting up appointments and helping their children with homework assignments. The family consist of 3 children and two adults living in the home. In providing this need you would be helping set the family up to be successful with completing services as part of their family center service case. You would also be ensuring the family is successful in getting medical appointments set up for their children and receiving help with their school work.

Family in immediate need of utility assistance. Child (12 years old) has extreme behavioral and emotional outbursts and has had 20+ placements over the past 6 to 8 months. This home is his sister who was able to get approved, but is 18 years old. She is the ONLY home that has been willing or caring to take placement. Her electricity was cut off, although she stated her bill was not due yet. We are desperate to preserve this home and asking for electricity utility assistance. More services will be able to be implemented in the upcoming weeks, but this home is still very freshly approved (less than one week since approval/placement).

A kinship foster family, located 1 1/2 hours away from the biological parents, is currently caring for two children who were recently removed from their parents home. The foster parents where the children have been placed have not yet been approved for financial support. The foster family is eager to supervise visits and support the children in maintaining contact and attachment with their parents, particularly during the holidays. However, they face a barrier due to their limited income and disability. Child Welfare Services (CWS) is requesting assistance in the form of gas cards to enable the foster parents to drive the children to the visits, allowing for increased family time until they become approved foster parents. This support would be beneficial to both CWS and the children in maintaining their connection and aiding in the transition. We kindly request you to please consider helping this family.

A parent has been granted the opportunity for overnight visitation for his 3-year old child. This parent lives in another state and drives every weekend to see his child for unsupervised visitation. Although he is a hard worker, he would like to have one over stay night in Oklahoma at a hotel. The parent asked for some assistance to help pay for the cost of just one night stay at a hotel for parent-child bonding. By assisting the parent with this request, our hope is that it would benefit the parent on moving forward with trial reunification.

After months of trying to find placement, we finally have a 12-year old male child placed with kinship that he loves and adores. DHS is making all efforts for this kinship placement to remain. The new kinship parent is fairly young and trying to situate her work and taking care of little brother. kinship home recently moved into an apartment and does not have hardly any furniture. The family requested a couch or futon for the front living room that does not have any furniture. Any other furniture or home goods would be greatly appreciated. Our hopes is that this will allow the home to be more stable and comfortable while she is caring for the child.

Mother with 4-year-old child has been working to overcome barriers to maintain her family. Mother relocated to Oklahoma for safety approx. 2 months ago after experiencing family violence however, found herself homeless and living in her car. Mother recently has been able to secure employment, and with it was able to find and move into an apartment. While this mother was able to secure a new residence, the expenses associated with moving into a new home is still a financial burden for her. Due to the fact that she has not maintained employment for a long enough time period, she did not meet requirements to get assistance through other agency funding programs. Mother’s rent is $1,000 which is due on the 1st of each month. Providing any assistance to this mother will ease the financial burden she is experiencing and ensure that she is able to maintain her new residence; providing a safe, stable, and loving home for her child.
A single father is in dire need of transportation. This father has worked non-stop to be able to provide a home and stable life overall for his newborn child. Unfortunately, the company he was working for has closed his position and he is left without a job. The need of $50 will go towards a bus pass so this father will be able to not only attend visitations with his child but, to have transportation to interviews.

We have a single mother who is working on reunifying with her three children, ages 13, 3, and 1. This mother recently moved out of her previous place and is looking for assistance with the deposit. This mother has been able to find a new job and save up some money for the move but is asking for some help with the rest of the deposit. She needs $184 more as soon as possible. She is able to move in on 12/1 but will need to pay the remaining shortly after. This will allow her to save some more money to help with furniture and necessities for the children.
