Family recently moved away from their church friends and family to a new home that offers more space for our fostering journey. We hope to add a play set and outdoor things for kids to enjoy on the few acres we have now. We also hope to be able to extend support to foster families in the southeast ks area similar to what we were so blessed with. We have started an intervention program , the first in the area. We are so excited to help the community here but miss everyone we moved away from. (foster parent, 3 kids)
The family of three, who are expecting second child are needing a dresser to store their clothing. Hoping to assist them with keeping the home in order , this dresser would really be useful, although needed the family can not afford to buy one, if you have one to donate or can buy one for this family it would be appreciated. Thank you.
DCCCA is working with a mother and her three children who have recently lost their only mode of transportation. The mother is requesting a bicycle for her teenage son so he can run errands close to the home so she does not have to get her young children out in the cold and walk. The son is approximately 4.5 feet tall. If you have a bike you can donate or are able to donate the funds it would be a great blessing to this family!
DCCCA is working with a mother and her two children who have recently moved into a new home. The family has been slowly gathering the items they need but have been unable to obtain dressers for the children. If you have a gently used dressed you are looking to get rid of or would like to donate finances for DCCCA to purchase dressers for the kids it would be greatly appreciated!

This child is an 8 year old boy who struggles with social skills. He is currently really struggling at school with his friends and classmates because he is having a hard time with social cues. His grandmother, teacher and therapist are worried for this child because he is very social and loves acceptance from peers and others, but he is struggling with showing appreciation for his peers and is only wanting appreciation himself. This has been going on for a few months and he is now occasionally getting asked to leave the classroom, sit in the principals office and or even leave school because he has been causing disruptions in class with his peers so much so that he gets so worked up and begins crying and cant be calmed down. His grandmother is requesting help paying for a social skills program for this child. It is $40 for each session. I know his grandmother would be very appreciative of any aide, he is a great kid, very caring, kind and funny, he is just struggling with some social skills at this time. Thank you.
Working with a foster and adopt conference local to Kansas City families from all over are coming to be able to spend some quality time with other foster families, have some spiritual growth and learn from many speakers on adoption and fostering.
Families are coming from as far away as Florida, and as close as Kentucky, Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri.
Some of these families are asking for assistance with Gas cards to help with travel expenses. I would love to be able to help donate gas cards to these families who are attending this powerful weekend conference.
Lucy:
My friend has attended these conferences before and have found them to be life giving to her foster home! I would love to donate gas cards totaling $250. Please let me know what dollar increments and gas station is preferred.
Kayla was not sure what she was going to do with her pregnancy when she first came to A&A. She was separated from her husband and had gotten pregnant with another FOB. That FOB promised to help with financial expenses associated with having the baby, but now that she's had the baby, he has been telling her he won’t help anymore financially if she doesn’t agree to his demands.
Kayla parents 4 children and shares custody of the first 3 with their father. She worked 2 jobs while pregnant and was able to figure out how to cover most expenses. She has been struggling with lack of income due to maternity leave, and her current job won’t give her full time hours until March. She has applied for state help but is still awaiting approval for those.
Kayla is requesting help with a past due electric bill ($215) as well as some gift cards to help her and her children. $100 in gas and $100 in grocery.

Single mom of 3 children is in need of getting birth certificates for her children so they can enroll in a new school. This family has been homeless, and by staying at many different homes, she has lost a lot of important information. We have been helping her get her ID, SSN, and now birth certificates for her and her children. This transition for the kids has been tough and she believes them switching schools to where they are now will help them become more stable. This process is all part of her getting a job, housing, etc. We are wrapping around this mom to support her in this process!
A youth needs a bed once they return to a relative placement whom is an adoptive resource. This youth would benefit from a comfortable bed to sleep in to maintain good mental and physical health.

A local foster home in the Olathe area that is placement for a number of teenage boys in care have requested two bedroom doors to replace two bedroom doors in their home that were broken off the hinges and not able to be put back on. The home is in great need of help to replace the bedroom doors to be able to provide privacy for the children in the rooms currently and to be in compliance with state regulations to maintain their foster license and be able to maintain the children currently placed in their home. They would greatly appreciate any assistance possible in getting the bedroom doors replaced.
Grandma has placement of three of her grandsons from Missouri foster care, ages 16, 13, and 12. A pipe in her front yard burst and needed to be replaced. She then was hit with another large bill in December when she needed to fill her propane tank to heat the house. Grandma is needing financial assistance to help with these unexpected bills. This would allow her to avoid going deeper into debt and ensure the family will have heat.
Parent has a clothes dryer that does not work. She has tried to service it and they say it is unrepairable. She is on state funding and cannot afford this.
Father of one of our children in foster care does not have a sim card for his phone. He works two jobs but does not make much money and asked for a Walmart Gift Card to purchase a $50 Smart Phone sim card so he can get his cell phone to work. He needs to be able to contact his lawyer, daughter and caseworker. He says that he has already paid ahead on the phone, so service would not be an issue.
This father is a hard working parent , who has been given custody of his young child for safety reasons. The child is thriving and healing , the father has a full time job, and a vehicle that is no longer drivable ,the vehicle has engine or transmission problems that would cost more to repair than to just get another car. The father uses the vehicle to take his child to therapy , school and also to get to his employment site. We are hoping to raise 3,500.00 dollars so he can buy a working vehicle.
Thank you so much. Updated on January 23, 2023 by an Agency Worker We would also like to add that if someone has a dependable car they would like to donate to this family, please let us know. Your donation will greatly improve this family's situation, relieve a great deal of stress on this single father, and put dad and child on the road to success. Thank you for your consideration and all you do to make a difference in the lives of families! Updated on February 01, 2023 by an Agency Worker This father and son are homeless and staying temporarily with family. Father was given custody of son by court in recent months and is needing transportation to take his son to and from school, appointments and work. This father who works full-time in a low-paying job would like to be able to find a different job that can better help him provide for his son. Not only will having a dependable vehicle help this father with getting a better paying job that will allow him to provide a home for his son; it will also ensure that father and son do not miss important appointments and aid in their future success.
Hello! I have two siblings who were placed in foster care last year in April due to parents' substance use and mental health concerns. The kids were placed with a family friend and they have been AMAZING in helping to take care of him and his sister while they are in foster care. One thing that the family has been struggling with was being able to afford to pay the kids' activity fees to make sure that they still are able to live like regular children and participate in their regular activities while the kids are in their care. The younger brother has been participating in soccer and is SO talented at it, and his older sister participates in theatre and theater camps. Anything would be so appreciated in helping this family out!
Three siblings have been significantly acting out after visits with parents and there are concerns for them hurting one another. With a 2-level home, foster parents are unable to see the children when they are in their room and need a baby monitor with video capability to ensure the children's safety while they are cooking dinner or are in other areas of the home. This need is urgent as the children have become very physically aggressive with one another and others in the household as well.
We serve the family of a nine year old boy with autism and ADHD who is in need of some sensory equipment for a “quiet corner” his mother is trying to put together to assist him in learning skills to help him to regulate himself in a soothing manner. The cost of a lighted curtain and two alarm clocks; one for the quiet corner and the other for his bedroom. The clocks are used to set timers, the displays are large and bright enough for client to see. The cost of these items total is $130. Thank you for your kindness.
We are currently working with an 8 year old child who is diagnosed with several mental health concerns. She has hallucinations and struggles with feeling safe in any environment. The family is very caring and working with her to help her in every possible way. She also has mental health services and treatment. While working with the family, we were able to identify 3 tools they could use to help the child feel safer. Both parents are working but with normal expenses and extra expenses for the child, they are living paycheck to paycheck. I am asking for help to purchase these needed items. I've listed the items that can be purchased through Amazon by any donor or I will happily order these with any donations received. Thank you for considering this request and for all of your support for our families and workers!!
