I am working with a young mother who is in need of some support. She is currently enrolled in a continuation program and is on track to graduate next year. At this time, she is in need of a crib mattress and crib sheets for her baby. DCFS has not yet begun providing financial assistance, and the client remains on maternity leave without current employment. Meeting this need would help ease her stress and provide one less thing for her to worry about during this transitional period.

The referred family is requesting assistance with gift cards. The family has a current investigation open. The father left the three children with their adult 22 years old brother. The adult brother lives with his girlfriend. The father left the children to go on a drug binge and has not contacted the family for months. Additionally, the family/children cannot receive DPSS benefits until 7/25/2025 as the father is claiming the benefits for the children and not giving the funds to the brother to care for the children. The older brother currently works night shifts at Smart and Final to support the family. The older brother feels overwhelmed and is having difficulty making ends meet. The family can benefit with gift cards to purchase clothing and food items. The family would be appreciative of any help and want to explore all options to make their children as comfortable as possible at home.

I hope this message finds you well, I am a parent advocate currently supporting a single mother who has an open DCFS case.

This mother had successfully reunited with her daughter and was making positive progress. However, she underwent shoulder surgery in February 2025, and since then, she has struggled to maintain her household due to physical limitations and ongoing recovery.

Unfortunately, the condition of her home has recently come to DCFS's attention, and there is now a risk of her daughter being detained again. This situation has created significant stress for the mother, who is doing her best to care for her child while managing her health challenges.

We are reaching out in hopes of securing assistance with cleaning and organizing the home. This support would be a tremendous relief to the mother, help her regain stability, and allow her to focus on continuing her reunification journey.

I work with families who have not yet entered the system, and I do everything I can to help keep them together. I have a mother who is currently under investigation but is fully compliant with the department. She recently moved into a new home and lacks basic necessities that could impact her case when the social worker visits.

She needs a TV stand, as the TV is currently on the floor, which could be considered unsafe for the children. Additionally, she requires a dresser for the kid's room, as well as a couch and toy organizers. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hello my teeth have been important to me ever since I was around 5 yrs old. My family and I found out I had extra teeth. It’s genetic, As I grew, the amount of teeth increase. By the time I was in 6th grade, I have around 8 extra teeth. The extra teeth were differently shaped and were impacting my adult teeth. This caused my teeth to be twisted and crooked. This caused me to get bullied and ultimately get called “witch teeth”. It wasn’t really a problem in elementary school. My teeth situation was horrible, no dental surgeon wanted to operate on me. I was very depressed in middle school. It wasn’t till middle of 7th grade when I received the news that a surgeon was finally willing to operate on me. It was extremely painful. My surgeon told me that I would be possibility losing sensation in my lower jaw permanently due to nerve ending. I lost a lot of weight and couldn’t feel my face for months. In the 8th grade, I got braces to fix my teeth. In my Sophomore year, when my braces came off and received my retainers. It was so satisfying knowing what I went through to smile confidently. Which leads to today, I unfortunately broke my retainer. The one thing I was able to control throughout this whole process. This is why my teeth are very dear to me and why I need my retainers replaced, I don’t want to go back to that horrible smile I hated deeply.

The mother is currently working as a security guard and as a Lyft driver for extra income. Mother reported that the family is struggling financially and asked for resources to a food bank. The mother is also requesting $200 gift card to food 4 less.

The referred family is requesting assistance with making payment for a past due balance on their electricity bill. Mother is currently experiencing financial hardships, and is not currently working, and the family cannot allocate funds towards making this payment. The family has been using flashlights in the evenings to move around the home, as there is no light. They have also been using a cooler to store their food as there is no electricity for the fridge. The family would be appreciative of any help and want to explore all options to make their children as comfortable as possible at home.”

Good evening, we have a high school student that is not able to focus in school due to the family struggle. The mother lost her job during the Wild Fires and is not working. She is the sole provider since the father is very sick and not doing well. This family is very concerned about becoming homeless, they are working on getting assistance but at this time they are on a very long waiting list for services. Hello, I am working with one of our school families with and elementary student and a middle school student. I was informed that due to the struggle of finding steady employment after the Wild Fires, they are struggling with rent funds to avoid getting evited. They do not have food or gas money to take children to school. The single parent is searching for work to get back on track. Friends have been donating food for this family but their fridge has stopped working and they don't have any where to keep milk and other items that need to be kept in the fridge. Kinship. This family was affected by the LA Wildfires and this is for Disaster Relief. Kin Caregiver is currently caring for two teenage boys, and the family was displaced due to the LA wildfires. The family is currently staying at a motel. The home did not burn down but it was damaged, and they had to move out. The landlord has the caregiver in limbo because the landlord is not sure what she will do with the property. The caregiver is paying for 2 rooms nightly which totals $160.00 before taxes. Paying for the rooms, food and gas has been a lot for her. The caregiver stated that she is need of assistance with housing, gas for her car (ARCO) funding for groceries ( Walmart or Food 4 Less), the hotel rooms daily payment as well as clothing and hygiene products for the two teenage boys. She is not working right now but wants to find employment. She receives funding for the boys. She also stated that it is difficult to find employment right now due to being displaced. She is requesting the following: hotel assistance- $500, grocery gift card to Walmart or Food 4 Less-$400, gas gift to Arco-$200.00, clothing and shoes for children- $300.00 (each child) and gift card for hygiene products- $100.00 (each child).
