This kinship caregiver is a single grandmother. She and two of the kids have some health issues that is making this a high need request. The family has been having issues with mice in the home! The kids are scared and the grandmother is worried about the kids and her getting sick from the droppings. They have tried putting out their own traps and are not having success. The grandmother contacted an exterminator for a quote for them to come and help. This grandmother struggles to make ends meet as is, so this kind of expense is not possible for her.
This is a family who has been going through a lot recently. The child has recently lost a friend through a shooting and it has affected his mental health and school attendance. Mom is currently going to school to have a better job to provide for her children. The family is currently experiencing homelessness and staying with her sister in an apartment that does not allow other people to stay. Mom has an interview this Wednesday in hopes to get a job and sustain the apartment she is trying to get.

A single mom to her 3-year-old son is currently pregnant and expecting her baby at the end of November. She has little support from family and the father of the baby has told her he does not want to support their family. This mom is accessing support from many resources by attending parenting classes and utilizing case management. She is currently facing the possibility of losing her housing but is working with support on this. The mom is asking for help getting the vital items she will need to properly care for her newborn. The client has been able to obtain a crib, but is still in need of a crib mattress and linens. We ask for new items. If the items are gently used, please be prepared to email photos for the mom's approval. Thank you!

I am working with a kin-family who is working towards adoption of their two grandsons. They have placement of a 1.5 year old and a 5 year old.
They recently got the 5 y/o a new bed, but it only came with a mattress and a frame. Because there is no box spring, there is a gap between the headboard and mattress which results in his pillow falling down. The family is requesting a box spring for a twin bed. It does not need to be anything fancy!

Hello! I have a 16 year old male that has been struggling to get to school and has diabetes. The teen has an extensive history of trauma, as his dad passed away of alcoholism and his mother is currently homeless and struggling with substance abuse. The teen is currently living with a family friend that took him in to avoid possible foster care placement, and also has children of her own. The teen has been saving money to get a car for reliable transportation to school, and needs $200 more dollars to purchase the car. If he were to walk to school, it would take him about an hour, and this poses a risk for him passing out due to his diabetes. His caregiver leaves early in the morning for work, and is unable to drive him to school. The teen is wanting to get back on track with his academics and be the first one in his family to graduate from high school. We would greatly appreciate the remaining $200 for the teen to be able to purchase a car to get to school. Thank you!!

The Department is involved with this family due to charges for sexual assault by one of the siblings in the home. There is one victim and one other sibling who live in the home. Due to the severity of the criminal charges and allegations, there are very strict rules in the home and the supervision for the perpetrating child is intense. The victim and other sibling are unable to have friends at the home and the criminal case has significantly impacted the family financially and created a great deal of stress for the entire family. There is a great deal of focus on services for the perpetrator and for the most part, the family is pretty consumed with his therapy, criminal hearings, and court/DHS involvement. The other two children in the home have been unable to participate in regular activities unless friends or other family members are able to provide supervision, transportation and often cover the costs for them. They would like to have a joint birthday part at Bowlero in December as they cannot have a party at their home due to the charges against their sibling. This would cover the cost of lane rental, shoes, and snacks for a total of 15 friends and the two siblings.

This family is on my caseload working on self-sufficiency. The mother on this case has worked very hard, and is currently expecting a baby on 11/9. Her and her SO just moved into a new apartment to have room for the baby. They are in need of furniture items to make this apartment a home for their family, specifically in need of a couch, a dresser, and a dining room table. They would be able to share meals with their new daughter in the coming months, watch movies on the couch, and have storage for their little one. Thank you for any consideration
