We are seeking support for a mother of 3, whose husband died unexpectedly from a heart attack on Mother’s Day of this year. Her husband had been the sole financial provider for the family, and their family consists of a herself, her three-year-old and one year old daughter, and a baby boy who is due in the fall of this year. Since the death of her husband, she has been overwhelmed with grief, caregiving responsibilities, and urgent need to provide for her family. Immediate needs for the family include the following: financial assistance for basic household needs – such as groceries, diapers, utilities – and also emotional and practical support (mentorship, childcare support, meal deliver) and community connection and encouragement. So, we are also asking, on top of the financial assistance, for the church or organization to be a physical and emotional support or to help connected her to a support group that can be that for this mom through this hard time.

This single mother is hoping to get financial assistance for her rent and also some personal items for her daughter. This mother works full time and works hard to support herself and her daughter. She has to use ride-shares or family members to get her around because she does not know how to drive. This alone takes a lot of her income and leaves her at a deficit when she needs to pay other bills. She is currently behind on her rent and electricity, and is hoping that whatever assistance can be offered will help her pay and get ahead. Her daughter is currently sleeping on a blow-up mattress and she would love to give her a a bed of her own. She said that if her daughter could choose the bedding it would be yellow or blue since those are her favorite colors!

This mom of 2 is asking for financial assistance as she steps back into work after having her youngest child. While she was in the last month of pregnancy her car stopped working. While she was on maternity leave she was able to make life work with her newborn and 2 year-old by staying home or using ride-shares sparingly. However, now that her maternity leave is done and she is going back to work, her insurance will not cover the cost of a rental while her car is being fixed. She is asking for financial help so that she can maintain going to work, but also having a running vehicle to get her children to appointments and daycare while her car is being repaired, which is estimated to take a month.

This family has recently immigrated to the United States from Zambia where they were war refugees. They are in need of baby girl clothing size 6-9 months or larger. They are also in need of employment and have been applying to agencies and using the WorkForce Alliance to try and secure employment but with no luck. If there's someone in the community who speaks Swahili and could help make connections with them to get them employment that would be extremely helpful. They also don't have reliable transportation so if there's anyone in the community who can help transport them to doctor's appointments and etc. that speaks Swahili that would be helpful.

We are working with a victim of human trafficking. She is trying to get on her feet, and is in the process of leaving an abuser. They have been stealing her belongings, making it difficult to gain stability. She has no income, currently, but is working on gaining employment. She recently purchased a new tire for her car, but the person who sold it to her gave her a bad tire. Brian Best assessed her car today and said that all four tires should be replaced, but for now we are requesting assistance with the FR and BR tires. Brian is able to do the alignment and replace the tires, if someone could provide the funds for the mentioned repairs, it would be appreciated.

A kinship family recently took placement of their two young grandsons, providing them with the stability and love they desperately need. However, like many relatives who step in during times of crisis, they were not financially prepared for the sudden addition of two growing boys to their household.

At the moment, both children are sharing a single queen bed, which is not a sustainable or comfortable long-term solution. Each child needs their own bed—a space of their own to rest, grow, and feel secure. Separate beds will not only support the children's physical and emotional well-being, but also help preserve the stability of this new family arrangement.

We are seeking two twin mattresses and bed frames to meet this urgent need. Your donation will help ensure this family can remain together in a safe and supportive environment.

A young, homeless family has been struggling to get on their feet. The mom is pregnant, and mom and dad have a 1-year-old son too. The family is working to get resources for housing and mom has recently got a job. The family currently does not have a car seat for the child, which makes it difficult for them to get connected to the community and to resources. Please consider supporting this family with a toddler/convertible car seat!

Safe Families has been walking alongside a family who is struggling. A young, teen mom and dad have a 1.5-year-old son and another baby on the way. They are engaged parents who are working hard to provide for their child(ren). They are currently homeless and are working to get into an apartment. Mom just got a new job and dad is actively looking for and applying for jobs. The family is requesting help covering the first couple months of rent while they are getting back on their feet.

Safe Families for Children is in need of a convertible car seat to transport children who are being hosted and/or supported by Safe Families volunteers. Safe Families for Children Wichita works to keep children safe and families together in the Wichita community and surrounding areas. Safe Families connects volunteers with families in need of support, with the goal of being preventative so families can be supported before child welfare is involved.

The Foster Care Homes and the Licensing departments with Saint Francis works with relative, NRKIN, and general care foster homes, and tend to run into needs of these items listed to remain in compliance with DCF. SFM workers like to have these items on hand to help accommodate our families and ensuring they remain in compliance so children can remain in their home. Fire extinguishers, first aid kits, fire and CO2 detectors, and medication lock boxes are of the greatest need. Thank you for your consideration.

This sweet mom has had a rough time with housing recently. Her landlord gave her very short notice regarding renovations coming to her rental that they would need to move out for, so she has been hustling to find a new home for herself and her children that fits within her budget. She finally found one that she can move into next week, but she is struggling to come up with the security deposit. Any small amount would be a great help to this family!

Since she was unable to save up by her anticipated move date, she is staying with her mom temporarily. She is still hoping to move into her own place in July.

On 05/27/2025 mom identified needing urgent help with electric bill as electric is about to be shut off. There are four children in the home ranges ages 9 months, 6yo, 9yo & 15yo. MO has recently been approved for Section 8 housing and is actively searching for housing as the family is currently living in a very small 2 bedroom apartment. MO also reported needing assistance for clothes for the CH and food. (CPS gave MO resources- United Way One Page)
