Foster Source regularly receives requests for non-certified kinship caregivers in need of safety items. Non-certified kin can become certified and receive much needed financial assistance just like traditional foster parents. One of the requirements for certification are safety items - 5lb fire extinguishers, cabinet locks/outlet covers, medicine lock boxes, and carbon monoxide & smoke detectors. We could use your help in getting these items so that when families make the request, we have them on hand to distribute in a timely fashion. If you are able to provide any of these items (in any quantity), they can be delivered to our office within the Adams County Human Services Building (Westminster) or we can arrange a pick up. Thank you for helping us with this frequent and urgent need!

This family is requesting two queen beds because they have had a flood in their home for the second time. The family is looking at over $4000 repairs in their home due to all the rain. The family had a flood a few months ago and had replaced some furniture in the home. Unfortunately, that was ruined again and is just looking for some help replacing this furniture.

A kinship caregiver recently took in a 16 year old unrelated youth temporarily while her parents get back on their feet. The family have been surprised at the increase in groceries, toiletries and even utilities, with having another teen in the home. There are four other biological children in the home. A donation of a gift card to offset some of these expenses for the caregiver, would be greatly appreciated.

Kinship caregivers are working on foster care certification, but have ran into some delays that are beyond their control. They are behind with some of their bills, and stated that getting help with diapers and wipes would be a huge help. Their grandson is 9 months, and wears size 4 diapers. A case of each would be super helpful.

This youth has been in the foster care system for most of her teenage life. Parents rights were terminated and it has been a struggle for this youth to get stabilized. We were recently able to find her a kinship placement and stabilize the youth, however she has no belongings of her own. This youth turns 18 in a few months and will then be a part of the Foster Youth in Transition program and is trying to get belongings of her own. The current placement does not have a bed and this youth is sleeping on the couch currently. The kinship provider is working to fix the basement, which just flooded adding a financial burden, into a room for the youth and is hoping for some help purchasing a bed for this youth so that she feels more stabilized and at home.

Biological father needs assistance getting new tires for his car as they are either wore out or have leaks. This father needs to be able to get to his treatment, visitation and Urine tests in order to be reunified with this daughter. A Wal-Mart gift card for tires or to Discount tire would work, or the client is willing to have tires shipped to his home. Updated on May 31, 2023 by an Agency Worker Father could still use help getting new tires as two of his tires have completely went flat.

They were recently homeless and the mother has found it difficult to find work. The mother is concerned about their ability to obtain some of the larger baby items needed for their child's safety. They ask for support getting a car seat and stroller, and a crib and mattress. We ask for new items. Thank you for your support!!

A first time mom has recently moved to America from Columbia to study English. She is expecting her baby in September and is hoping to prepare with some of the larger items she will need to properly care for her newborn. She is currently living with her family and says they are struggling financially after her father's company is without much business. The father of the baby is still living in Columbia and is hoping to move to America soon to support his family. The mother studied family medicine in Columbia and is hoping to transfer her career to America to support her family financially. Right now, the mom asks for help getting the car seat and stroller. These items would help her safely transport her baby, and it will be needed in order for her to leave the hospital. We ask for new items. Thank you for your support!

I am working with a single mother who is only 21. She is a human trafficking victim and has been in and out of sober homes for the last eight months. The last sober home she was at she was asked to leave, but when this happened they took all of her stuff and either donated it or threw it away. This has left her with only a few clothing items and not much else. One of her belongings that got thrown away was her hair piece which is a big part of her confidence and she now is without. She is couch hopping at this time and could utilize some assistance to get a new hair piece, clothing, and toiletries.
This request is for a $75 Amazon Card so she can order what is needed. The card can be electronic to best get it to her.

She is more than welcome to come with her case worker or other trusted companion to choose clothing and other items for no charge in our Blessing Room in addition to us providing the gift card for Amazon.
An 8-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, were recently placed with their Aunt and Uncle, who are non-certified kinship caregivers. The cost of travel to multiple appointments a week for visitation with parents, therapies and other appointments for the children, is having a significant impact on the family's budget and their ability to meet other basic needs of the children in the home. Gif cards to King Soopers or Walmart to help with gas would be greatly appreciated. Also, both children play basketball, and the family would love to get a curbside basketball ho0p system so they can get outside and play at home. There is no preference to new or gently used.

A single kinship caregiver is caring for her four year old daughter and 5 year old nephew . The child came with nothing to her home. He currently has one pair of shorts, one pair of sneakers and one pair of sandals for summer. She would really appreciate help getting him some new clothes for summer. He currently wears at 3T/4T - he is very slender, so adjustable pants or those with elastic waist are best. Underwear, socks, shorts, t-shirts , tank tops and a swimsuit would be nice for him to have. He wears a size nine shoe. Gift cards or the actual items would be great!!! If possible, it would be nice for him to have some of the clothes as new as that is not something he is accustomed to.
Also, the caregiver only has girl toys, and is asking for help getting him some toys such as action figures and dinosaurs to play with in the bath tub, and cars, trucks, and even something like a dump truck to bring to the park when they go. They like to spend their time playing outside when it's not raining.
Some gift cards for Walmart for groceries and gas to help offset the impact of some of the other expenses she is incurring caring for an additional child.

I can buy toy cars, trucks and dinosaurs and will also purchase a Walmart or Target gift card for $75 for clothing (whichever store the caregiver prefers).
15 year old male is in need of appropriate bedroom furniture for a bedroom. Youth will need a dresser, nightstand and a bed frame for a queen bed.
Youth would be able to put away his clothing and have a more organized room.
