A single mother of 2 is in desperate need of getting her water turned back on, as the family has gone almost a full week with no water. The landlord is hassling this family after taking a long time to fix a busted water pipe, and recently has refused to assist with the bill that was accumulated during the waiting period. In addition, the family recently received a gas stove that is missing the required gas line to complete the installation. The family had been without a stove for a few weeks now, and receiving the $75 piece for the stove would allow the family to prepare hot meals again. Lastly, this family is in need of two twin boxsprings to finish setting up beds for the children.
The family consists of 2 children with elevated developmental needs. The parents work full-time but with the children's elevated needs, they continue to struggle to make ends meet. The parents have worked hard on cleaning up their home to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the children. DCCCA has been working with a family and is getting ready to pass services on to another provider who will work with reunifying children and parents. As a step in that process, the family needs to order birth certificates for two of the children in order to obtain housing. DCCCA would like to help the parents secure the certificates and begin working on obtaining stable housing before their case closes in the next few weeks. If you are able to assist in covering this cost to help these parents as they take steps to be able to have their children back to their home, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
