Help Support a Youth Aging Out
Request #2
Request #1 was for the same youth, for supplies he needs as he transitions into the college dorms. This 19-year-old young man has been in the Child Welfare system for two years, but only after suffering almost a lifetime of emotional abuse as the result of living in a very violent household.
Despite his childhood trauma, he has done well, chose Extended Foster Care, and is now a NMD (Non-Minor Dependent). He will be graduating from High School in June 2025, with excellent grades. He is not employed, as he wants to focus on his education; he does do some peer tutoring for extra money.
After high school, he will be attending UCI, living on campus. He proudly says he will be the first in his family to attend college and wants to set an example for his younger sister, who is also in foster care. He is very humble, hoping he's not asking for too much. He offered to show me his grades and certificates to prove he is taking his education seriously.
He will need a lap top and is hoping for an electric scooter. He is open to a gift certificate, or having an adult help him shop for these items.
Thank you in advance.

This young man is asking for some of the “basics” as he transitions to college dorm life: sheets, towels, blankets, pillows, toiletries, school supplies, etc. He would be happy with a gift card (I am estimating $500) so he can purchase the items himself. He would also be open to having someone assist him with the shopping - he does not have transportation – and may need an adult’s guidance as to what to buy, how to budget, what needs he may not be anticipating, etc.
Additionally, he needs a laptop and is requesting an electric scooter. I will submit a 2nd request for those items.
Thank you in advance.

Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
This request is for a refugee family of 7 who recently moved from a small furnished apartment to an unfurnished one. They are asking for a refrigerator that is in good working condition. Since they live in an apartment, the ideal size would be between 20 and 24 cu ft. Style is not essential.
The father has only been able to secure work two days a week, and the mother stays at home to care for the five children. The father attends school to continue improving his English skills, which will give him more employment opportunities.

Alleviate Food/Essentials Insecurity
Child has grown up in and out of foster care. Child was raised without knowing who his father was. In 2023 Mother named a man, after DNA results, in Dec 2023- the child found out who his biological father was. Much to father's surprise, as he was informed he could not have children. Father quickly began visiting and getting to know his son. Over a year has passed since they have first met and things have dramatically changed for father and son. They attend family therapy together and are building their relationship. Father was displaced after breaking up with his girlfriend who was not welcoming to the child, after the breakup father was set to move to a home in Pasadena in Jan 2025. Sadly, the home they were supposed to move into- was burned down by the Eaton Fire. Father found housing in Glendora. Father is in need of a couch, dining table and even a TV. Child loves to play video games and uses video games to escape and get his mind off of things such as the emotional toll that visits with his mother and siblings. Father has worked so hard to be able to find a stable place that court can release the child to, and despite his initial home that burned down; he did not give up and did not let that bring him down. The family is in need a TV and TV Stand: TV: Go To Link TV Stand: Go To Link

Stabilize Housing Insecurity
Hello, I am working with one of our school families with and elementary student and a middle school student. I was informed that due to the struggle of finding steady employment after the Wild Fires, they are struggling with rent funds to avoid getting evited. They do not have food or gas money to take children to school. The single parent is searching for work to get back on track. Friends have been donating food for this family but their fridge has stopped working and they don't have any where to keep milk and other items that need to be kept in the fridge. We would like to help this family as they work on getting back on their feet. Thank you in advance, God Bless you for helping those in need.

Help Improve a Child's School Attendance
I’m reaching out to request support for my client, who is a young adult and is actively working toward becoming self-sufficient. She recently moved into a new apartment with her mother, and unfortunately, her bed frame broke during the move.
As she balances school and work, having a proper bed is essential for getting the restful sleep she needs to stay focused and succeed. Providing a replacement bed frame would make a meaningful difference in supporting her stability and progress during this important transition. Thank you for your consideration.

Help Improve a Child's Wellbeing
My client is a newly dedicated young mother, who recently gave birth to her newborn about a month ago and is currently residing at Mary’s Path. As she looks ahead, she is preparing to take a significant step by transitioning to her mother’s home in Lancaster. This move will allow her to continue her parenting journey in a supportive environment while pursuing a Supervised Independent Living Placement (SILP).
To ensure a safe and nurturing space for her baby, is in need of a baby crib. This essential item will not only provide her child with a secure place to sleep, but also help her establish a stable foundation as she navigates this new chapter of motherhood. Your support in helping provide this crib would make a meaningful difference in her transition and long-term success as a young parent.

Help Preserve a Kinship Placement
KINSHIP. This caregiver is a dedicated grandmother and is seeking assistance to help her grandson participate in football this upcoming season. He is eager to join his high school football team, but the caregiver is unable to afford the cost of registration, uniform, and equipment. Caregiver and her husband are the legal guardians of their grandson and want to support his interests, but current financial limitations make it difficult to cover extracurricular expenses. Football offers a valuable opportunity for the grandson to stay active, develop confidence, and be part of a team. Participation in organized sports supports both physical and emotional health and provides a positive outlet outside of school. This assistance will help maintain the stability of his kinship placement by ensuring he can engage in activities that support his well-being without placing additional financial strain on the caregiver. Caregiver’s income comes from retirement, Social Security, and monthly funding for her grandson. However, after covering essential living costs, there are no remaining funds to cover sports-related fees or equipment. Once this immediate need is met, caregiver will continue to carefully manage her fixed income while exploring additional community resources or seasonal programs to support her grandson’s continued involvement. Her priority is to keep him safe, supported, and thriving in her care. Financial breakdown: Registration: $525 Uniform and equipment: $400

After months of experiencing homelessness due to the mother courageously leaving an abusive relationship, the family now has stable housing. While this is a major and hopeful step forward, they are still in need of essential household items to help them settle in and feel truly at home. The following items are needed: 2 Twin mattresses, 2 twin bed frames, 2 Twinn bedding, 1 set pots and pans, 1 dresser, 5 towels, 1 dining table and 5 chairs. Any support, whether through donations or sharing this need with others, is deeply appreciated. Thank you for being a part of this family's journey toward stability.

Help Improve a Child's School Attendance
This is a single mom with three young kids in elementary school who’s been going through a tough time. She’s been experiencing homelessness and has been moving between Los Angeles and Orange County. While staying in LA, her kids missed over a week of school because she didn’t have a way to get them to school. Right now, the family is staying in Orange County, and with just three weeks left in the school year, the mom really wants her children to finish out the year at their school in Corona-Norco. School has been one of the few stable things in the kids’ lives lately, and she’s doing her best to keep that going. Mom needs support in the form of gas cards to help her get the kids to and from school during these last few weeks. Anything would help and would go a long way in supporting this family during a difficult time.
