Safe Families is supporting a single mom with 5yo daughter. Mom recently moved to OKC to a transitional living program. Her daughter is able to stay with her on weekends. Mom struggled to find employment upon arrival and is now behind on rent and is facing losing her spot. She has been able to find more consistent income and they program has worked out a payment plan for her. However she needs $500 now to be able to stay. (She is paying $150 of her own to reach the total of $650 total) Helping with this need will provide mom stability so she can continue to work and move towards her daughter being back home full time with her. We appreciate any assistance.

Families with children with autism/ special needs often face unique challenges that can make it difficult for them to find environments where they feel comfortable and supported. Our goal is to provide families with children with these unique needs a safe place to have family time that is enclosed, sensory friendly, and has specialized play equipment to meet their needs. We Rock the Spectrum is an indoor all abilities sensory friendly kids play gym that has three locations in the OKC metro area (Edmond, Yukon and Norman). They have offered to host family time at reduced rates for children engaged with Child Welfare. This would be an excellent opportunity for parents to learn how to effectively meet their child’s needs in a safe and inclusive environment. For this to succeed, we need community support to purchase passes as each facility charges between 8 dollars to 12 dollars a pass. A foster placement is in need of financial assistance to be able to provide childcare for after school care to preserve placement of a child in need!

Please help preserve a difficult kinship placement. Older sister has taken placement of her 6 younger siblings, ages 2-11. She has her own son, age 3. Together with her fiancé they live in an apartment. She is a stay-at-home mom and needs activities to get the kids out of the apartment in the summer. We are requesting life jackets for the kids so they can enjoy the pool safely. Being able to have activities to keep the stress level down as they are in smaller quarters and don't have a yard to play in is very important for this family's well-being. Thank you for helping!

Please help support this challenging kinship foster placement. An older sister has taken placement of her six younger siblings, ages 2 through 11. She also has her own 3 year old child. Together with her fiancé they live in an apartment. Having this many children in a relatively small space with all that energy is a lot! Foster mom is a stay at home mom and the family will need summer activities to get them out of their small apartment and get some energy out. The children love science, building, and learning. We are asking for a membership to the Oklahoma Science Museum. To accommodate foster mom, her own child, and the 5 foster children older than 3 we will need a membership for 6 and a membership for 2. This will also allow foster dad or another adult helper to go with the family.

Hello, I'm requesting assistance with a dad getting transportation. He recently purchased a vehicle, and it has since broken down. He uses the vehicle to get to work and also for visits with his child. I'm requesting a bus pass or something to assist with the transportation barrier. I put an estimate on the bus pass, however I'm not sure when the dad will be able to get his vehicle fixed. I'm also unsure of how much bus passes are for the Oklahoma City area.

I have a young bio parents’ mom (21) and dad (28) that will be traveling to Quapaw, Oklahoma which is a 3-hour trip one way) to visit their 5 months old twins who are in foster care. Dad is the only parent working currently. The parents plan to make this trip every two weeks. The parents have reliable transportation but need assistance in making the trip. The parents last saw their 5 months old twins 05/03, and 05/04 when the foster parents traveled with the 5 months old twins to Oklahoma City.

We have a foster mother that has really gone above and beyond to help a 13 year old boy with several disabilities, and there are 3 other children in the home. She's opened her home in order to take him in and even moved to the living room so that he can have her room instead. She's been struggling with some major home repairs and we've been unable to find help for those issues.
