A young mother, currently unemployed due to job loss, and her one year old child, are in need of a toddler size bed set for the child and adhesive latches to child proof their home. The child is approaching two years old and no longer fits comfortably in his crib, and therefore is in need of a toddler size bed. The home is also in need of being child proofed to assure a safe environment for the child. As the mother lost her job last month and the father is no longer in the home due to domestic violence, the family is experiencing financial stress. Mother is closely bonded with child and has been receptive to supportive services to better the functioning of the family and support the mother with employment related goals. Mother is also currently in school, although plans to obtain a job as well to continue supporting herself and the child. If the mother is able to receive support from the Care Portal Community with obtaining the child's bed, she will be able to demonstrate to the child protection services agency servicing her, that she is able to provide the child with basic necessities. Any support would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advanced for the consideration in supporting this family.

A single mother of four children, who just moved out on her own is in need of items to assist with setting up her new apartment where she will live independently with her children. The mother recently re-entered the work force and furnishing a new apartment was not in the budget as she is just rebuilding her life. The mother maintains a positive outlook for her future.
She and the children would benefit from the following items:
- bunk beds for teen boys
- a tall 4-5 drawer dresser for storing clothes
- a small kitchen table with a bench and 3 chairs if possible. a standard 4-seater would also be fine.
The children are happy to remain in the care of the mother. The items requested will help maintain the biological family and help the mother to establish a nurturing home for the children.
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
This young survivor we support has undergone tremendously stressful and unsafe circumstances within the last couple of months. She has been harassed by the father of her child, but has taken extreme measures to prioritize the safety of her life as well as the life of her two young children. She's worked hard to leave her current housing location, so that she can start over in a new city away from her past, and has fortunately received great news about an approval to a new apartment! As her team continues to support her with this transition to new beginnings, she has been out of work and needs a lot of help with her rent before leaving. She is very sensitive with this topic, so we ask that partners would be delicate during conversations, but the ask is for support with paying the rest of her rent so she can transition out of her current housing on good terms. Anything helps! Thank you in advance for your help and prayers.

We are asking for immediate assistance if possible, for a single father. He is 62 years old, on a very limited income with a teenager he is raising at home. The father is working to reunify with a 2-year-old daughter who was detained from mother, at birth, and placed in foster care, then kinship care. Father has been working on reunifying for 2 years now, and it is crucial that he keep attending consistently to his visits. The car repair is a desperate need, as the car is not drivable and has been left parked on the street, which is subject to parking fines during street cleaning. The vehicle is a Ford, and it needs the replacement of wheel bearings and brakes.

An Anonymous Responder:
I can pay for the car repair.
Maybe the person posting this need, or a friend who has AAA coverage, can get the tow accomplished for free by accompanying the man during the tow process for 20 minutes?

Hello, I am working with a 19-year-old in high school that recently moved in with another one of her classmates from another state. The student does not have the means necessary to purchase a bed where both can sleep in. The room they will both be sleeping in is relatively small and has no room for a bunk bed. I have assessed the situation and visited the student in order to determine their need. The current need is a full-sized mattress and box springs. Both of their mothers are low-income and are unable to afford purchasing a suitable bed for both of them. If the student is not able to obtain a bed for both of them, she will be unable to stay there, hence, there is no room to sleep on the floor. The student I am servicing recently signed up for therapeutic services and she looks forward to obtaining the tools needed to accomplish future goals independently. I have attached weblinks of the mattress and box springs for the full bed. The measurements for the bed are specific and the weblinks are in accordance with them. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

The family is Colombian, they are fairly new to the country. Unfortunately mother was involved in a domestic violence relationship with father. It came to also father physically hitting the children. Father was given a removal order and is ordered to take court order for reunification. At the time of the removal the family was already in a shelter as they had been in a home where they were renting, and had gotten evicted. The family was previously working on their immigration status and due to their financial status, they weren’t able to continue paying for their immigration lawyer, and weren’t able to receive their ITN number to be able to work in the country. Father was the primary provider as he and mother would take odd jobs, as in selling cookies, keychains, whatever they can get to be able to sell. Mother has taken the primary financial responsibility as father has not provided for the family. Due to the family being undocumented they don’t qualify for DPSS which provide for hotel vouchers, etc. Their previous shelter was provided by la family housing, but due to a language barrier with the case worker, and misunderstanding of information, they weren’t able to provide adequate housing and were given an exit date of the shelter on 9/8/23. Mother has continued to seek other jobs like in cleaning homes to be able to provide enough for the children. LA Family Housing has been contacted but due to immigration status & lack of available services and have recently been denied

The parents are in need of assistance with an electric bill and a toddler bed. The parent have been experiencing financial stress and utilize community resources but occasionally fall short. Additionally, the family is soon anticipating an addition to their family and the primary provider will be out of work. Although the parents are having this challenge, they are committed to working hard and providing the best possible upbringing for the children and maintaining the family together. During my work with the parents, I have identified the following strengths: parental resilience, knowledge of child development, utilizing community resources, and a strong bond between the parents and children. I am requesting this need to be fulfilled so that the family may continue to meet the basic needs of the children and provide a safe environment for the children. DCFS is requesting assistance on behalf of the family to soften the financial stress so that they may maintain their home, remain in their home, and continue to meet the needs of the children. DCFS has assisted the family by providing diapers, clothing, backpacks, toiletries, and referrals to other community support agencies. DCFS will continue to link the family to community services such as food banks, counseling, etc. in order to ensure the family continues to remain in their home with all of their needs being met.

Maternal Uncle began caring for his 2 nephews after their Legal Guardian, maternal Grandmother passed away. The transition was difficult, but the maternal uncle has been a steadfast and loving caregiver. The maternal uncle moved the boys in with him, and his fiancée at the time, and they were able to provide the boys with a loving home environment along with the emotional and social support they needed to thrive. Maternal Uncle and the children were recently displaced from their home due to the relationship separation between maternal uncle and his fiancée. The maternal uncle was able to find a new place to live, however their belongings in the home are sparse and the family is in need of a dining room table. This will allow the maternal uncle to continue to provide the boys with a nurturing home environment. This will allow them the opportunity to have furniture in their home along with a place to sit and share meals together in order to strengthen their bond.
