We are seeking a toddler bed and mattress to assist a local kinship family in transitioning their toddler out of a pack and play and into her own bed for the first time.

TWIN MATTRESSES | Children ages 2 and 3 in the home. Parents have a bunk bed for the children and are in need of two twin mattresses for the bed.

Kinship placement as well as the Department have some concerns about child's behavior/activities in the home due to recent substance use and lying. Would like to put cameras in common areas of the home for safety purposes. We are thinking between 4-6 cameras would be appropriate.

The Department is humbly seeking assistance in our extended community for donations to help ease the financial strain during this emotional time. A single mother was unexpectedly laid off and it has left her family with significant financial challenges. As a result of the release, the mother has recently lost her personal property to include her house and vehicle. She is accompanied by her 6 year old daughter. The pair are now considered homeless. With the Department’s support, her child has now been enrolled in school to promote any normalcy during this hardship. With this being said, the mother now has the ability to seek employment while her child is being properly supervised. Nevertheless, her license needs to get reinstated in order for her to transport herself to and from her anticipated occupation. The mother is working on her Master’s Degree and is one step closely on filling her dream, regaining control of her life, and securing a safe haven for her family. The Department is asking or $650.00 in hopes of helping her get there.

Hello! I am currently working with grandparents who are serving their granddaughter as her kinship foster parents. Their granddaughter, 3 years old, is the victim of shaken baby syndrome. This child was shaken to the extent where she is immobile and in a vegetative state. She is receiving excellent love, care, attention, and support from her family as well as all service providers. Unfortunately, the family does not have the means to transport the child without the use of a Medicaid transport van. We are requesting help from our community to supply this family with a handicap-accessible van that includes a wheelchair lift. Thank you for considering helping this family!

Bedford County - Family of 5 which includes three children. A home visit revealed some significant needs in the home as the family is going through some challenging times and is in need of support/resources. Father is employed at this time, however there is little left for food and other basic items. The school is assisting the family in connecting with local organizations for supports and are taking the necessary steps to receive available assistance. At this point, the school staff is working collaboratively to ensure basic items are gathered and is requesting some gift cards/financial support to be able to obtain the additional needs for the family that haven't been available through the donations.

Good afternoon. Thank you for everything that you do for the community and the families that we work with. I am currently working with a family that is doing well and working on reunification. Mom has been doing extremely well and has done amazing with her sobriety. She is in the process of setting up the children's room. Due to the size of the room and needing to fit 3 younger girls a bunk bed is needed. A toddler bed is already in the room for the youngest child, but a complete bunk bed would be best for the other two sisters. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. He is currently two months behind on rent and is making efforts to address the overdue amount promptly to prevent eviction. My clients in the Hollins Motel have reached out again to request payment for their room until Saturday. She stated that the initial check from her second job got sent back so she has not gotten paid yet but she feels that she is very close to getting over the hurdle they have been experiencing lately and that she can take over payments if she can get through to Saturday. Therefore, I am requesting the Motel payment from today (Wednesday)-Saturday.

The Department is humbly seeking assistance in our extended community for donations to help reunify a biological family safely. The mother is a domestic violence survivor who was previously residing in a shelter until she was able to obtain stable housing with a FUP voucher by the Department's support. This is the first time in her life she has been able to possess a space of her own. She has limited supplies for the children as she exhausted her resources purchasing their basic needs. She is consistently working on improving her environment to cater to her children's return. She spends many hours of her day advancing the residence into a nurturing space. Nevertheless, she is in desperate need of a stackable washer/dryer. She is a young mother for two children, two and under. We strongly believe it would be difficult attempting to accurately supervise two children while cleaning/folding clothes at the laundromat for an extended time. Thank you for your consideration.
