I am working with a mother and father, who have a young child- and are struggling with lack of financial resources to replace the door to their home. They currently do not have a front door- it is entirely broken, and just props up on the frame at night but is not at all attached. It is a safety hazard to the family to not have a door to their home, putting them at risk of harm. Any assistance that could be provided to this family to either obtain a new door, or help them put the door in would be greatly appreciated.

I am working with a single mother of 7 children, with minimal support and money- who is in need of child proofing door handles. Some door alarms have already been provided to her, but she could benefit from the door handles as well- to keep her young children inside at all times- as some of her children are very young.

I am currently working with a family of three who are facing financial hardship and are in urgent need of assistance with their utility bills, specifically for water and electricity services. The family is at risk of service disconnection. Household: 1 adult and 1 child and 1 newborn

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out on behalf of a dedicated single father who is working hard to provide a safe and stable environment for his two young daughters. He is currently in urgent need of two car seats to ensure his girls can travel safely and legally.

Despite financial challenges, this father is doing everything he can to meet his children’s needs. However, the cost of car seats is currently beyond his reach, and he would be incredibly grateful for any assistance or donation to help secure these essential items.

One car seat for a younger child or infant age 1

I am working with a single mother, of three children who has two jobs to support her family. She is in need of some bunk beds, for her daughters room. Any help that could be given to her, would be greatly appreciated.

The mother and 4 children were deemed to have been residing in poor/unsafe living conditions. The building inspector had deemed the residence to be an unsafe structure with multiple repairs needed before the family could reside in the home. As of 06/16/2025, the home was inspected, and the inspector granted the family permission to enter the home because some of the requirements had been completed. The children are in need of appropriate bedding. The beds were deemed unsafe. Bunk beds or twin beds are needed, new or used. The family would need mattresses and appropriate coverings for the beds. The home is also in need of a couch, new or gently used, for the living room area. The couch that is in the home is in poor condition and needs to be transported to the county dump. The mother has no transportation and relies on a friend or anyone that can assist herself and family.

I am working with a teenage girl, and her mother, who are currently experiencing homelessness and living at the shelter. The child does not have access to any electronics, and suffers from mental health disorders. She could benefit from having a kindle or a tablet of some sort to aide in her de- escilating/ calming when needed. She has no resources to aide her in this way currently.

A mom lives in Lynchburg with her 3 children. Her husband is currently incarcerated, leaving her to be the sole provider. Health complications beyond her control caused her to lose her last job. Last month she got a remote job, which will suit her medical needs better, but it will be several weeks before she gets paid and she has no way to make all of this month's rent which is due 6/16 - latest. She is currently searching for a second job to help make ends meet. Thank you for any help you can provide to this mother as she does everything she can to get back on her feet.

A 4 month old child has been placed into the custody of his maternal grandmother due to his mother experiencing a mental health crisis. He is in need of size 4 diapers as well as a new car seat and base.

My client is an 8-month-pregnant mother of an 11-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy. The baby is due in late June 2025. She recently separated from her husband, who experienced a mental health crisis after witnessing a traumatic event. Prior to relocating to the area in May 2025, her family lost everything during a tornado and hurricane in another state. A local shelter assisted in securing housing for them, but they currently have no clothing for themselves or the newborn, nor any essentials for the baby's arrival. Despite being 8 months pregnant, she is enrolled in online classes to pursue a career in medical billing and coding. She has visited local agencies seeking clothing for herself and her children but has been unable to find items that fit. I am requesting a $500 donation to purchase baby items and clothing for the family. This support will not only provide immediate relief but also strengthen the family's bond and well-being during this challenging time.

This request is for a single mother who lives in the heart of Lynchburg with her toddler. She had family living with her until recently when they moved out of state, leaving her alone to care for her child and keep up income through cleaning houses. Her child currently does not have an actual bed for sleeping. When presented with the possibility of getting a bed for her child, her face lit up like a Christmas tree that there are people who may be able to bring her son a bed. Mom lost her job in early November due to kids illnesses, she got a new job later in November but lost that job also due to kids illnesses. She has struggled to make car, electric, and rent payments since losing her job. She has been delivering with DoorDash to obtain income. She is overdue on her car payments for the month of April and May and she needs her car to continue to DoorDash until she obtains another job. The lender reached out to her because the payments were due on May 23rd. She has reached out to friends, family, and other agencies and has received some support for her other needs, but still cannot make the car payment. She is in need of $792.00 for her car payment. She is working with a Career Navigator at Virginia Career Works and plans to complete CNA training this summer so she can obtain self-sufficient employment, but she needs transportation to be able to accomplish this goal.
