The client is a single, 65-year-old caregiver raising her granddaughter . The client is working with the YMCA Kinship Support Program to access ongoing resources, but is currently in need of a new microwave as hers is no longer working. When this need is met, the client will be able to quickly prepare meals and heat leftovers for the child, making it easier for her to provider for her basic needs. The client has found a microwave that would meet her needs because it is a built in rather than a counter top model and link for the item can be found here:

A 7th grade male student, in foster care until his foster parents became his legal guardians last year, is requesting assistance to bury his biological mother who recently passed away. The family has had her cremated but the child has asked to have her interned so that he can visit her grave site multiple times a year to place flowers and talk with her as a way to heal from the trauma he has experienced. Child Welfare and other support agencies have been unable to assist the child and his guardians because it was his biological mother who passed not a current legal guardian or the child himself. The total needs is $ 2,276.50 but they have raised $1,250 on gofundme.com Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

This Park Hill student and his mother were involved in a situation that caused them need to leave their home to stay safe. They are currently staying in a hotel, and are hoping to find permanent housing soon. The hotel is working with the family to have a low rate, but money is getting tight. They are also in need of food, but the hotel they are staying in does not have a kitchen, so mom has to be strategic in what they get. In addition to that, the family runs a food truck, and is doing several events in the next couple weeks, and needs access to a kitchen once a week to bake to prep for that week's event. Mom is working in addition to doing all of these other things, and would be grateful for any help she can get.

The mother has made significant progress in her sobriety and has continued to fight to reunify with her children ages, (15) and (11). The mother has been given another opportunity to have her children returned to her care. She is actively working in her substance abuse treatment plan and visiting regularly with the children. The children have been able to stay together in foster care but are far away from their community. The mother has housing but is in need of beds and furniture so that the children can return to her care. Please note that they would be very appreciative of any used bedroom furniture.

Single mother in need of financial aid due to her three-year-old son being hospitalized for an extended period of time. The child's hospitalization is a result of severe physical abuse by mom's now ex-boyfriend. Mom's daughter has also been admitted for abusive trauma but is now ready for discharge pending mom's living situation. Mom moved here from Nevada in November to be with her boyfriend. Mom has no familial supports or friends whom she trusts enough to care for her daughter while mom is at the hospital with her son. A request for a monetary donation is being made so mom can afford an extended stay at a hotel. Biological father is on his way to help mother with childcare and will also be residing in the hotel. The goal is to house them for a week untill the daughter has a follow up appointment and can be taken back to Nevada. Mom has no mode of transportation and will need to stay at a hotel near Children's Mercy.

A single maternal grandmother had her two young grandchildren recently placed in her care. Due to the fact that she is a single caregiver she has requested help two areas. One area of support for this grandmother would be in being provided with diapers for the youngest grandchild, a female who wears size 4 diapers. The older child, a male is in need of pull-ups size 3-4T. This grandmother has also found in extremely difficult when taking the children out with her because she has nothing to keep the children in. She has requested a double stroller for the children which would allow her to take the children out while keeping them safe. If there is any agency or group willing to help, this grandmother would be extremely grateful. Thank you!!

Kristin: They can contact Kristin @ Youth Alliance(###) ###-#### ext.122) and do the safe sleep program & get a pack n play with a bassinet insert. Also does the foster family not get WIC? That would make the formula for the baby free??

Mother recently obtained housing for herself and for her four children, as they all resided in a homeless shelter due domestic violence in the home and witnessed by the children. At this present time, Mother and children are without household furnishings i.e.., beds/bunkbeds (mattress and frames) and appliances (stove and refrigerator) and dinette set that seats, 6 people.. Currently, the children are sleeping on the floor with minimal coverings and pillows. Daily, mother is buying food and drinks from fast food restaurants and/or neighborhood stores as she does not refrigeration or ways of preparing hot meals. These items will ensure the children have access to cooked meals and comfortable sleep space ensuring the children have restful sleep.
