There is a single mother in need of gas money to transport her child back and forth to school. The mother has recently started a new job and will be missing a regular paycheck. The child has been placed with her through a current CPS case and the mother does not live in the child's current school district. The child will miss school if the mother is not able to transport him back and forth.

A child has had to move with his mother through a CPS case. When he left his previous home, he was not allowed to bring his personal items including his clothing. The child currently only has a couple clothing items at his mother's home and is expected to stay there for the foreseeable future. His mother just changed jobs and does not have any extra funds to help with clothing. The family expressed that they would be grateful for donations or a gift card to the following clothing stores: Marshals, Old Navy, or Target. The child is a 14/16 in children's if it stretchy or a small in men's. He is a size 9 in shoes.

The Department is humbly seeking assistance in our extended community for donations to help ease the financial strain during this emotional time. An extended family, living in the same home, consists of a mother and her two children (17YOF and 12YOM) and the mothers brother, his wife, and his two children (1YOM and 4YOM) is presently struggling to obtain even the basic necessities to live; this includes clothing for the children. Even with the adults in the home working, their income mostly goes to rent to allow the family to remain in a safe spot. The family is able to sometimes have money left over for a few groceries but never had enough funds to get clothing for the children. The family is limited in English proficiency; which aides into the complications of seeking help from their fellow peers. The Department is asking for $100 per child to provide clothing for the children.

We are seeking a toddler bed and mattress to assist a local kinship family in transitioning their toddler out of a pack and play and into her own bed for the first time.

A single mom with three young children is currently in need of beds for her two toddlers. The whole family currently sleeps together in a queen-sized bed which is both a safety hazardous and a hinderance to their well-being as the mother is unable to sleep through the night. The family is requesting a twin-size bed/mattress for the 4-year-old and a toddler bed/mattress for the 2-year-old. Additionally, the family is in need of another dresser as the space they are staying in does not have closets causing storage to be limited. A gently used dresser would be accepted if donated.

TWIN MATTRESSES | Children ages 2 and 3 in the home. Parents have a bunk bed for the children and are in need of two twin mattresses for the bed.

Kinship placement as well as the Department have some concerns about child's behavior/activities in the home due to recent substance use and lying. Would like to put cameras in common areas of the home for safety purposes. We are thinking between 4-6 cameras would be appropriate.

A single mother was unexpectedly laid off and it has left her family with significant financial challenges. As a result of the release, the mother has recently lost her personal property to include her house and vehicle. She is accompanied by her 6 year old daughter. The pair are now considered homeless. With the Department’s support, her child has now been enrolled in school to promote any normalcy during this hardship. With this being said, the mother now has the ability to seek employment while her child is being properly supervised. Nevertheless, her license needs to get reinstated in order for her to transport herself to and from her anticipated occupation. The mother is working on her Master’s Degree and is one step closely on filling her dream, regaining control of her life, and securing a safe haven for her family. The Department is asking or $650.00 in hopes of helping her get there.

We are working with a mother who has been through a very challenging situation recently, losing her significant other unexpectedly, among other various events. We are working to reunify her with her children, as she is working through several programs to support her ongoing recovery in addiction and to address the grief she is working through. She is trying to ensure she can maintain visitation with her two children, who are currently about an hour away from her residence. The placement is unable to provide transportation for mom. We are looking for someone who would be willing to provide transportation (at least up to 30 min. drive to a local park) to and from a visit over the upcoming weekend and/or a gift card to utilize Uber to maintain in person contact with the children and maintain momentum on the plan to return them home.

A gorgeous litle girl is requesting help in feeling more confident in her clothes and with her self-esteem. She is quickly outgrowing what she currently owns and is trying to get some new pieces. The following are her sizes:

Hello! I am currently working with grandparents who are serving their granddaughter as her kinship foster parents. Their granddaughter, 3 years old, is the victim of shaken baby syndrome. This child was shaken to the extent where she is immobile and in a vegetative state. She is receiving excellent love, care, attention, and support from her family as well as all service providers. Unfortunately, the family does not have the means to transport the child without the use of a Medicaid transport van. We are requesting help from our community to supply this family with a handicap-accessible van that includes a wheelchair lift. Thank you for considering helping this family!

Bedford County - Family of 5 which includes three children. A home visit revealed some significant needs in the home as the family is going through some challenging times and is in need of support/resources. Father is employed at this time, however there is little left for food and other basic items. The school is assisting the family in connecting with local organizations for supports and are taking the necessary steps to receive available assistance. At this point, the school staff is working collaboratively to ensure basic items are gathered and is requesting some gift cards/financial support to be able to obtain the additional needs for the family that haven't been available through the donations.
