I have a foster child that has been placed with her brother and his fiancé, which is going well so far, but they are in need of some financial assistances with their rent. He is a little behind in rent and would be most appreciative of any contributions in helping him so that our placement stays successful.

I am working with a family that includes the grandfather who is a vet, his daughter and his grandson whom all live in the home. The family lives in a hoarding situation and desperately needs assistance with getting the home clean. Currently the grandfather has a boot on each foot for medical reasons, and the daughter is not mobile and in a hospital bed. The living conditions appear to be getting worse and are unsafe for the child. We are asking for either a team to help clean the home (we do recommend protective wear for this job) or assistance paying for a cleaning service and any recommendations of cleaning services that accommodate this kind of situation. If the home is not clean the child will be at risk of coming into care. The child has a very special bond with his grandfather, and we are working very hard to prevent him from being removed.

A single mom with three young children is currently in need of beds for her two toddlers. The whole family currently sleeps together in a queen-sized bed which is both a safety hazardous and a hinderance to their well-being as the mother is unable to sleep through the night. The family is requesting a twin-size bed/mattress for the 4-year-old and a toddler bed/mattress for the 2-year-old. Additionally, the family is in need of another dresser as the space they are staying in does not have closets causing storage to be limited. A gently used dresser would be accepted if donated.

TWIN MATTRESSES | Children ages 2 and 3 in the home. Parents have a bunk bed for the children and are in need of two twin mattresses for the bed.

I am working with a single mother with two children, and she is in need of a window AC unit for the home. If anyone has a used one available, or would be willing to contribute financially to secure this need for the family, it would be greatly appreciated!

Bedford County - Family of 5 which includes three children. A home visit revealed some significant needs in the home as the family is going through some challenging times and is in need of support/resources. Father is employed at this time, however there is little left for food and other basic items. The school is assisting the family in connecting with local organizations for supports and are taking the necessary steps to receive available assistance. At this point, the school staff is working collaboratively to ensure basic items are gathered and is requesting some gift cards/financial support to be able to obtain the additional needs for the family that haven't been available through the donations.

The Department is currently assisting a family in need of critical home (Doublewide) repairs. Both parents have recently returned to the workforce. The father has started a new job, and the mother has also resumed employment. The home has sustained damage, particularly to the roof above the kitchen, where vultures have been observed picking at the caulking. This has led to water intrusion, resulting in mold growth on the ceiling and visible water damage on one of the walls. Additionally, a section of the kitchen floor is warped. According to the homeowner, repairs are needed including replacement of the ceiling trusses, floor joints, and subflooring. Any form of assistance with this matter, whether through direct support or an initial assessment and estimate, would be greatly appreciated. Photos can be provided if needed. The total estimate listed may not be accurate for the repairs.

The department is currently working with a family who is experiencing financial difficulty and relies on a single income. The mother stays at home to care for their children while the father works full-time to support the family. At this time, they are in urgent need of assistance with clothing and essential hygiene products such as diapers and pull-ups for their young children. Any support provided would greatly benefit the family, ensuring that the children are properly dressed and maintaining healthy hygiene practices during this challenging period.

A family is facing change and instability. The mother is struggling with mental health, and the children have been placed in care with a relative. To give the kids a sense of normalcy, the family is seeking help to send them to summer camp. However, funds are limited, and support is needed to make this possible.

(This is a follow up to a recent request with the updated need.) There is a single father in the county who is on disability and doing all he can to provide the best for his two children (a pre-teen & teenager). There is limited support received from the mother. The family has been without a working oven for quite some time. It was recently assessed by an appliance repairment who concluded that it cannot be repaired. Therefore the family is need of a new or used oven so the family is better able to cook meals to nourish the family appropriately. The family is also connected with a local ministry/organization who has an eye out for an oven that the family may be able to take.

This request for a queen size bedframe is being submitted for a family the Department is working with. Mom is a single mom who is unemployed and has four boys all varying in age. Mom is unable to provide a bedframe for her 12-year-old son's bed, as she previously had two twin frames under the bed but needs to utilize one for her 6-year-old son's bed. Assistance with purchasing a queen frame would prevent her oldest son from sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

This young adult is involved in the Fostering Futures program. They have now worked and attained a new apartment and wish to have a couch to sit on to complete their living area. The couch should seat 3 and be grey in color. Thank you for considering this person's future of living in their own space.
