Story
I have a single mother of 5 kids who is on a fixed disability income who is requesting support for washing machine repair services or replacement. This housing unit is brand new to her as she was asked to leave her old place due to mold. Per her rental agreement which was reviewed by this CW the renter is responsible for any washer/dryer repairs. The washing machine stopped agitating, won't drain and no longer is getting power. After some diagnostic tips it sounds mechanical and electrical. We were able to rule out the electrical outlet as an issue. All of the children are on the Autism Spectrum ranging in ages 18 (very high needs), 9, 8, 6 and 5 years old (range of needs). Public transportation is difficult with 5 kids in tow with their varying needs along with laundry for 6 people. Mother could use this support to ease her and her children's situation. Mother is currently washing every item by hand in a bin but the quality of cleanliness is poor. Just to have a call of service to look over the machine was approximately $129 and the cost to repair would depend on what is needed. They gave me a rough estimate of $50-350 but totally depends on the unit. Per her rental agreement if she brings in her own washing machine, she is able to keep it if/when she moves out. New washing machines range from $280-800 (and higher) with just a quick search online. Any support would make a world of difference for this family's daily needs. Thank you for your consideration.
