A local mother is working to reunite with her 7 children and is seeking assistance to set up a safe and comfortable home for them. She recently moved to a new place and spent all of her funds on moving expenses. She is seeking assistance to purchase beds and mattresses as a requirement of her reunification plan. She needs two sets of triple bunk beds and six twin mattresses. She also needs a toddler bed and mattress, but she said a regular twin bed and mattress would be okay. Assistance with building the beds would also be wonderful if you are able to provide this service. Thank you!

A single mother is in need of a full-size bed for herself. After the tragic loss of her son, she had to use her limited funds to cover funeral expenses, leaving her unable to afford basic necessities. The family had just moved into a new home when the accident occurred, causing a sudden shift in financial priorities. Currently without a bed, she is sleeping on the floor. Assistance in providing a bed would not only meet a practical need but also offer her a sense of comfort and relief during this incredibly difficult time.

On Saturday, April 12th, the McLennan PAL unit hosted its first-ever Amazing Race event, where 13 youth had the opportunity to participate in a fun and engaging day designed to build valuable life skills—including public transportation, budgeting, grocery shopping, and cooking. We’re especially grateful to Holy Spirit Episcopal Church for graciously providing 3 HEB Gift Cards that the youth were able to use for their grocery shopping portion. Holy Spirit will be formally committing to and claiming this request.

We have a child who came into care because of ongoing safety issues for the child and his mother. The perpetrator has been released from jail and has tried contacting the mother even though there is a protective order in place. The child is on permissive placement with his mother at this time. She has done very well with her treatment plan and getting her son back home with her. We are asking that someone please help keep them safe with 2 Ring Doorbells; one for the front and one for the back. This will allow the mother to see anyone that approaches her house and provide a better feeling of security for her and her child.

Mother is close to reunification with her 5yo and 6yo sons. She has worked very hard to comply with her case plan, get an apartment and create a safe space that her and her boys can call home. She currently has unsupervised visits and is in the process of having a home study that will determine the next step of permanency, which will be overnight visits with her boys in their new home, and then shortly thereafter, the ultimate goal of reunification. Mom is need of help with a few major items. She needs a sofa so that her and her sons can sit together and make memories of watching their favorite cartoons, movie nights, and making forts. A dining table so they can gather for meals, talk about the adventures of the day and share their hopes for the days ahead, and two twin size beds to tuck her boys into each night before reading them a bedtime story. This family of five has fallen behind on bills, and could use the help of our community to keep their power on. Dad works, but employer has been cutting back on hours, and this has left the family struggling to pay their bills. Family is on payment plan with AEP and the amount to get them caught up is $617. Power will be turned off on 4/22/25. Dad is sole earner, as Mom stays home and homeschools their three kids.

A 17-year-old girl who recently underwent a heart transplant is moving into a new apartment with her father. This family has faced a great deal of hardship over the past year—while she was hospitalized for several months leading up to the transplant, her father traveled back and forth between the hospital and home to care for his aging parents. Sadly, one of them passed away during that time. Their move-in date was unexpectedly moved up to tomorrow (Thursday, 4/17), and they are in urgent need of a $700 security deposit, as well as a few essential household items: a queen-size blanket, vacuum cleaner, towels, and washcloths. These items will help the family settle into their new place and have a sense of stability.
