On Wednesday, April 30th, the grandmother called requesting a new refrigerator. She reported that her refrigerator is not working properly, and she must buy meals every day. She is the owner of her home and doesn’t have a warranty on appliances. She stressed that buying food every day is costly and stressed not being able to afford to purchase one at this time. Having access to a refrigerator is crucial for the family’s well-being, allowing them to properly store food safely and manage household needs.

This mother of 4 is working to stay on top of bills, however has gotten behind on her electric bill. She works full time, but still struggles to make enough to pay all of her necesities on time, due to the high cost of living. Her electric bill is due tomorrow and needs $320 in order to pay on time. If not paid, the bill will significantly go up (and will also take her off of her PIPP payment plan) which could lead to it being disconnected in the near future. Thank you for considering!

I have a student who works 40 hours a week and lives on their own. They owe $85 in fees to GBHS and cannot pay them at this time.

A 17 year old female and 5 year old male are currently placed with an unlicensed kinship placement. This week, the placement's refrigerator stopped working completely after the freezer was accidentally not shut all the way for an extended period of time. Due to caring for the children's needs, as well as an aging parent alone, the kinship placement cannot afford to get the fridge fixed. The kinship placement also had to throw away all of the food in the fridge. The children in the home identify this caregiver and this home as the only place they have ever truly felt safe and that has felt like home.

A single Mom of two and expecting in August, was recently left on her own. She is struggling to pay all the bills herself and is short on April rent by $550 and utilities by $200. We have some ideas of some programs to assist her with funding and case management wrap around services going forward, but need to cover April in full before May hits. Any amount is appreciated. This request is for a family with 3 children, one of the children is an adoptive placement. This family needs 6 dining chairs. Several of the families dining chairs have broken or are not safe for use. Family is being reunited and has a new home. Working on gathering things to make it feel more like a home and help them get back on their feet. Starting with the beds. I have a full size bed for mom, but looking for twin size beds for each of the two boys. Mom has asked for pillows and I would love to find them bedding as well. Boys are into Pokemon and Sonic the Hedgehog but anything blue would work.

She has starting driving for DoorDash and is looking for other ways to earn income while caring for her child, but she has gotten behind. She needs $262 by May2nd to avoid eviction. Our church is working together with a family who was recently homeless and is getting back on their feet. For years they have been deeply invested in serving our community. The mother has been a constant source of support, providing food and childcare assistance to local churches, always giving selflessly to others.
