Story
This request is discovered by a licensed social worker for the Syracuse City School district. The request is for the family of a student at Nottingham High School. The student works full time nights at the Amazon warehouse to provide for his family of 7. He is the sole breadwinner for the family. His father has an amputated leg from an accident and cannot work. The mother also cannot work either as she cares for the family. There is a sister who had a kidney transplant 3 years ago. The kidney is beginning to fail and her health is declining significantly. There are three teen age children in the home.
One of the needs of the family is a washer and dryer. Having these appliances will lighten what is already a heavy load for the caregivers in the family.
If able to purchase new, these models have worked well for new resident families in the past. Go To Link Go To Link
If purchasing used equipment, we've had good luck with used dryers. Fifty percent of the used washers we have purchased have been damaged though. If contributing a used washer, please confirm it works well.
