This family was displaced in October 2024 after the hurricane in Tallahassee and they lost all of their belongings. They do not have transportation and have limited income. They are in need of assistance with size 18 months-2T clothes for a girl, size 2T and 3 pullups and Dreft laundry detergent, Aveeno, and Cerave for the baby’s eczema.

This caregiver expresses a variety of needs since taking in two kids (girl age 14 and boy age 11) into their home. They are requesting help with groceries as the monthly bill increased from $400 to $700. They are also asking for assistance with two dressers for the kids as their clothes are being kept on the floor. There is a need for assistance with clothes. The family is requesting gift cards to Goodwill because they cannot give exact clothing sizes for the kids due to clothing sizes varying due to the build of the children. Lastly, the family is asking for assistance with toiletries (shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, and soap).

Assistance is being requested for a kinship caregiver who started caring for her two teenager nephews on 5/2/25. The teens have been in the custody of Summit County Children Services for NINE years and are FINALLY able to live with a relative. One of the boys has Cerebral Palsy and has regular incidents of wetting the bed and/or soiling himself during the night. The caregiver is going to have a difficult time with managing this due to not having a washer or a dryer in their home to do the laundry when needed. Additionally, the same child has limited use of one of his hands, making it a bit difficult for him to eat, causing a large mess when doing so. The child will produce a large amount of laundry each week due to this, as well as regular laundry usage from the family unit. The caregiver is a single parent, providing for the children's needs and a washer & electric dryer would ensure that laundry is able to be completed timely, not ruining clothes and linens due to delays with getting to the laundromat. Additionally, the caregiver is in need of one dresser for each of the boys for their rooms. They do not have somewhere to put away their clothes. By each of them having a dresser, this could help them feel more settled into their new home and help with cleanliness. There are no size limitations on the dressers. The child was recently taken into kinship care by the Department, the child was not consistently attending school and was recently reenrolled in school to finish out the school year; however, the new school has a uniform requirement. The parents and kinship caregiver do not have the funds to purchase school clothes at this time.

Two children just moved in with a kinship placement, and they are in need of two mattresses. This will help meet the basic needs of the children and ensure the kids have a safe and comfortable sleeping arrangements. When the kids reunify with their father, the beds will follow them so they can still have safe and comfortable sleeping arrangements in their own home as well.

We have a foster family caring for 9 children that had to purchase a new vehicle this weekend. Their van died suddenly and this was not a planned purchase. They had to use most of their funds for the down payment, and are requesting help with groceries for the rest of this month. Please consider funding this need or purchasing a Kroger gift card. One of our members has a washer and dryer to donate. A newly arrived refugee family with a disabled child is in great need of these donated units. We are looking for help from our church to pick up and deliver the washer and dryer. A pick up truck is needed, also volunteers to load, unload and install.

I met a young single mom, yesterday who is facing homelessness. She and her 12 year old daughter currently live in an apartment with her mother and are being evicted on Sunday evening. The grandmother has a place to go but this mom and her 12 year old do not. She is on a list to move in to housing in 4-7 days. She hopes to get a job in the Ruckersville area within walking distance of Food Lion.
GRACE can likely help her with first months rent when she gets in, but cannot help her with both first months rent and a hotel stay until the apartment becomes available. We are seeking nights at a hotel or an available room where she and her daughter can stay until getting the apartment. Please reach out if you can help with this. If different churches pay each church needs to make a different reservation which would be difficult. Current rate is around $140 a night. Let me know how many nights you could cover for her and I will start a reservation with that many nights and ask that you either send funds through GRACE or stop in the hotel and pay cash towards the reservation.

We’re praying for a harvest soon, as they must be fully moved out of their home by the end of June. Kennedy is preparing to graduate from high school in just a few weeks and is stepping into the next chapter of adulthood. Cameron has been thriving in New York; he's already received a glowing letter of praise from a client for being so helpful! Sherry recently started a new job assisting a senior during the day, and Kaya has been a big help in organizing, packing, and preparing for the upcoming move.
