Story
A single relative caregiver just moved into a new home with her 3 foster placements and her adult daughter. In the two bedrooms that the three foster children will reside in, the windows are not meeting egress standards. The windows do open, are screened in, and are of appropriate size (20in x 37in). However, the windows are 57in from ground to window sill. An egress window cannot be higher than 44inches. The family needs 3 step stools that will be kept under these windows that would create a distance less than 44inches from top of stool to window sill. Therefore the stools need to be at least 13 inches tall or more. The children could use these step stools to access the window if needed in an emergency. A safety plan has been signed regarding these stools being added to the home.
