This precious single mama is just days away from welcoming her new baby into the world, and she’s walking through this season with incredible courage—but also with a deep need for community. She’s 37 weeks along and scheduled for induction this week, yet she faces the overwhelming reality of doing this without a local support system. The individual she had lined up to care for her son is no longer available. Her sweet 6-year-old son, who attends school during the day, will need loving care after school and until mom is released from the hospital. As a Spanish-speaking single mother, her heart is full of hope but also burdened by the weight of doing this alone. Her son is bilingual and does speak English and Spanish. This is a beautiful opportunity for the local church to step in—to be her village, to offer comfort, and to remind her that she doesn’t have to face this transition by herself. Hello all, we have a family who are never before parents decide to open their hearts and home to foster kiddos in need. I think we all can agree that being first time parents is scary, especially when you add in the trauma of child welfare on top of the children not being your own (there is just that extra level of anxiety to being the best you can be). With receiving their first placements, they realized they were unprepared for the physical needs of children entering care, and their kiddos came with nothing and little support from the bio-parents. They are in need of clothing and diapers/pull ups while they wait for their first stipend to come through. The kiddos need sizes 12 months and 5T for clothes, size 3 diapers and pull ups size 5/6T.

A single mother of 1 is struggling with keeping employment due to this she is low on groceries and gas money. This mother is requesting a grocery and gas gift card to help her keep some food in the home until she gets her new job and the gas card to help her get to her job interview later this week.

Mother is in need of a Armoire dresser and Queen mattress and box spring for her son as she is planning on transition from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom so that her son can have a proper night's rest and avoid possible future complications from poor sleeping habits. This will also help alleviate some of the mother's stress in obtaining the following items: armoire dresser $197.99, 12 inch queen mattress $169.99, and queen box spring with fabric cover $88.98= $456.96

Family is in need of two twin sized mattresses, the bed frames and bedding have been secured.

One of our members has a washer and dryer to donate. A newly arrived refugee family with a disabled child is in great need of these donated units. We are looking for help from our church to pick up and deliver the washer and dryer. A pick up truck is needed, also volunteers to load, unload and install.

I met a young single mom, yesterday who is facing homelessness. She and her 12 year old daughter currently live in an apartment with her mother and are being evicted on Sunday evening. The grandmother has a place to go but this mom and her 12 year old do not. She is on a list to move in to housing in 4-7 days. She hopes to get a job in the Ruckersville area within walking distance of Food Lion.
GRACE can likely help her with first months rent when she gets in, but cannot help her with both first months rent and a hotel stay until the apartment becomes available. We are seeking nights at a hotel or an available room where she and her daughter can stay until getting the apartment. Please reach out if you can help with this. If different churches pay each church needs to make a different reservation which would be difficult. Current rate is around $140 a night. Let me know how many nights you could cover for her and I will start a reservation with that many nights and ask that you either send funds through GRACE or stop in the hotel and pay cash towards the reservation.

We’re sowing seeds of hope within the foster care community, connecting with kind and compassionate individuals to help us find safe and affordable housing for Sherry, Kaya, and Kennedy. We’re praying for a harvest soon, as they must be fully moved out of their home by the end of June. Kennedy is preparing to graduate from high school in just a few weeks and is stepping into the next chapter of adulthood. Cameron has been thriving in New York; he's already received a glowing letter of praise from a client for being so helpful! Sherry recently started a new job assisting a senior during the day, and Kaya has been a big help in organizing, packing, and preparing for the upcoming move.
