This request is to help a single mother and her elementary student furnish their new apartment. The family arrived in the United States one year ago and were residing with extended family in a 2-bedroom apartment. Due to domestic violence, the family left and through the support of CarePortal, were able to secure their own apartment. The family does not have the financial means to furnish their new space. The family does not have living room furniture such as a couch or chairs. A staff member at the student's school has offered to donate those items, however we do not currently have a way to transport them to the family. The family also is in need of kitchen utensils and cookware, plates, bowls, and cups, two dressers, kitchen chairs, and cleaning supplies. They currently do not own any cleaning items to be able to use.

Family has transitioned into permanent housing and working to furnish the home. They need a couch, two twin size bed frames, one queen size bed frame, 2 dressers and a dining room table with chairs. The apartment is in Seattle, however the kids are in enrolled in Federal Way at Mirror Lake.

Teenage female has faced many challenges in her 13 years of life. She has had to take care of both herself and her mother and has experienced trauma no child should ever experience. Despite everything she has encountered, she remains to be a vibrant and positive child. The items that are being requested are to help ease the child's burden while living in a group home. I am working with a set of grandparents who have legal custody of their grandson who is 8 years old. They need financial assistance for summer day camp. The grandfather and grandmother both works outside of the home and can generally meet the family's basic needs. However, they need someone to watch their grandson while he is out of school this summer. The grandson goes to a private school and the school is offering summer day camp. The grandparents want the grandson to participate at this particular day camp to keep the consistency since he already knows the staff and other children. The grandson has been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum and change is hard for him. The grandparents looked into other financial resources, but they were denied because they were slightly over-income. CDSS is working with a mother who has made great strides towards reunification! She has recently progressed to unsupervised visitation and is going to be able to spend a large amount of time with her child over Mother's Day weekend. She has had to cut her work hours due to the requirements placed on her, and could use assistance with diapers and wipes for her one-year-old daughter. She wears size four diapers. After 25 years of faithfully serving students and teachers in Orange County, one of our longtime Saddleback Church members is now facing the heartbreaking reality of potential homelessness. She is a compassionate, devoted college professor and mentor with a clear anointing on her life. Due to a sharp decline in student teacher enrollment, her income has been drastically reduced. Yesterday, she received a 3-day pay-or-quit notice and urgently needs $900 in rental assistance to avoid becoming homeless by this Friday. Next month she will begin receiving income from new jobs and expects to cover her rent going forward. However, she needs support to make it through May. She is single woman who lost her only child years ago; she has no family to turn to only her church family. With a Doctorate and Master’s in Education and a BS in Mathematics, she has dedicated her life to mentoring future teachers and guiding students in challenging STEM subjects. Her mission has always been to help students discover their God-given talents and pursue meaningful careers. Since 2012, she has also served faithfully in several Saddleback ministries. A church member has a college student, at New River Community College, in a class that is currently homeless along with his father. His father broke both his arms in a work accident due to faulty equipment. Since he is unable to work and the company has put a hold on workers compensation until July they are in need of assistance. The father is unable to work at least until he has surgery on both arms. Their current needs are food and gas for him to get back and forth to work and school. The school has been working with a mom who was reunified with her children about a year ago. As a single parent she has needed extra support in keeping up with all of her kiddos and their needs. They've recently been accepted to move into a more affordable home at the beginning of June but they had to move out of their current place earlier than that. They are in need of a hotel room to hold them over until their rental is ready for move in. (The landlords are actually from MP!) The hotel is $84/night and we are hoping to cover 5 nights. There are several other churches claiming other nights as well!

We have a beautiful new family that arrived last week from Afghanistan. They came with nothing and currently the government funding is not available. we have helped the family secure housing and most of the furniture needed. they hopefully will move into the apartment in the next few days.

I am advocating for a mom of 2 who has had a stroke paralyzing her left side. While ordering a wheelchair for her, we discovered she is sleeping on a mattress on the floor. This mom has had three back surgeries and needs her bed high enough to be comfortably transferred in and out of bed and to be able to rest well. She is very humble and grateful for any help she may receive.
