Support a Family During Kidney Transplant Recovery

A family of four is in urgent need of support. The mother has been unable to work for four years due to severe medical issues and is finally receiving a long-awaited kidney transplant after seven years on the donor list. The father works full-time and also serves as the primary caregiver. He is driving 2 hours each way to get his wife to hospital appointments, putting significant financial strain on the family. Their only bathroom is unsafe and unusable, and the children have been displaced due to financial hardship.

We are requesting $3,500 to help: Cover gas and travel expenses for transplant appointments, Repair the bathroom floor to create a safe recovery space, Reunite the children under one roof during this critical time.

A mother and her two children—a son and a daughter—have recently overcome a period of homelessness after finding safety in a domestic violence shelter. With the help of community support, the mother has now secured housing and just moved into a place they can call their own. She is working two jobs to provide for her children and is doing everything she can to build a safe, stable, and loving home. While they are incredibly grateful for this fresh start, they are starting over with very few belongings. The family is in need of essential furniture to make their new space functional and comfortable. Specifically, they are hoping for beds and bedding for all three of them (2 twin beds, and a full/queen mattress), a table where they can share meals together, and a sofa to create a welcoming space to relax as a family. They are open to gently used items and would be deeply thankful for any support offered during this transitional time. Your kindness can help bring comfort, dignity, and a sense of home to this resilient family as they begin to rebuild their lives.

We are currently working with a dedicated mother of a five-year-old boy who is navigating significant challenges. She became a parent as a teenager and has faced ongoing difficulties, including housing instability and limited access to basic necessities. The child’s father is not present and has expressed no interest in being involved in their lives. Recently, the mother’s cell phone service has been disconnected due to an outstanding bill of $733. This has severely impacted her ability to: Access critical community resources and services Communicate with her child’s support network Schedule essential appointments and outings with her son Receive notifications and updates from schools, health providers, and social service agencies Given her current circumstances, a working phone is not a luxury but a necessity. She actively seeks help when it is available and benefits greatly from the services she can access—when reachable. We are requesting urgent support to help cover the cost of her phone bill so she can restore service. Restoring her phone will empower her to better care for her child, stay connected to crucial services, and continue moving forward during this challenging time. We are requested the mother’s cell phone service has been disconnected due to an outstanding bill of $733. CFCE has been providing support services to a young mother who was recently reunified with her 2 young children, ages 3 months and 2y/o. Amongst many things, the mother needs assistance with securing diapers and wipes for both children. Your help can remind this mother that she is supported in a community that cares.

The courts will be celebrating several youths in foster care who are graduating this year! Would you consider donating snacks and drinks to help celebrate this milestone for our wonderful youth?

Grace Chruch Family, a need in the community has come to our attention that we would like to help with. A mom needs help with an electric bill. She has 3 children ages 6, 2, and 5 months. The baby was born early and this has caused her to get behind on several bills. Thank you for any amount you feel led to fund.

A mother is no longer able to take her medication since she cannot afford and no longer able to pay her bills and work. She is taking the steps to get her medication started back up for physical and mental state. Since she is not able to work due to having her disability she is not able to afford her rent. She has an eviction notice and needing to get her rent paid in the next 3 days. She currently has 3 children living in the house, an eight year old, 13 year old, and a 17 year old. She is a single mother and is never late with paying her rent. She could use all the help that she could get in order to prevent homelessness for her family.

A family with a child with special needs (seizure disorder and autism) is seeking assistance for a small portable air conditioner. Initially mom thought that the landlord got this fixed but as the days get hotter the a/c cannot keep up. The child’s seizures worsen with heat and the mom is about to undergo a surgery. Does anyone have a used portable a/c that can be donated? Or can you find it in your heart to donate to this cause?

Single mother (who Emmaus members have been walking alongside) escaping domestic violence from husband along with two kids under the age of 7 years. She is starting over from scratch as they left the house with nothing and has no extended family support. She would like to have a car which would provide transportation so she can get a job so that she can get into housing. We are hoping to provide $3,000 towards a vehicle.
