This devoted great-aunt and primary caregiver to her two great-nieces, ages 12 and 8, and her nephew, age 10. In 2020, Aunt was awarded legal custody of the children after they were removed from their mother's care. Since then, she has provided them with a stable, loving home environment where they feel safe and cared for. Recently, Aunt’s refrigerator ceased functioning, and despite her best efforts to maintain perishable items at a safe temperature, she is struggling to provide the children with well-balanced meals. As a loving, family-oriented individual, she is committed to ensuring they have what they need, but this unexpected challenge has placed additional strain on her resources. KVC is hoping to help a 5M child enroll in a summer Reading Program. This child is passionate about reading and learning and his placement wants to help him not lose any of the progress he has made reading this school year.

I am requesting assistance with a crib and a mattress for this family. The family is composed of the parents and four children (ages 4y, 6y, 8y, and 11mo). The mother is a stay-at-home mother; the father is employed and is the sole financial provider for the family. The 11-month-old child is currently co-sleeping in the same bed as the parents. The mother requested assistance in obtaining a crib and a mattress for the baby since at this time the parents cannot afford to buy one. If the crib and the mattress are provided to the family, it would ensure a safe sleep environment for the child and it would reduce the risk of SIDS.

Mother needs a crib for her one year old child and 2 twin beds for her 6 and 4 year old children. Mother had beds for her children but father kept it and due to ongoing DV mother does not want to ask for it. Although, mother is having that challenge, she is trying to her hardest to provide for her children. Furthermore, mother is committed to maintain her children with her. mother is trying to better herself, is knowledgeable of children’s needs and is present.Mother’s goals are to be able to live on her own. For these reasons, I am advocating for caregiver to have the need identified met. The main reason I am requesting this need to be fulfilled is because mother is having a hard time having money to buy beds for her children due to father being the breadwinner. Father is upset mother does not want to get back with her after the DV incident that involved DCFS in their life. Mother refuses to get back with father and father is using this to not give her the children basic needs. The mother is currently working as a security guard and as a Lyft driver for extra income. Mother reported that the family is struggling financially and asked for resources to a food bank. The mother is also requesting $200 gift card to food 4 less.

Grace Chruch Family, a need in the community has come to our attention that we would like to help with. A mom needs help with an electric bill. She has 3 children ages 6, 2, and 5 months. The baby was born early and this has caused her to get behind on several bills. Thank you for any amount you feel led to fund.

Single mother (who Emmaus members have been walking alongside) escaping domestic violence from husband along with two kids under the age of 7 years. She is starting over from scratch as they left the house with nothing and has no extended family support. She would like to have a car which would provide transportation so she can get a job so that she can get into housing. We are hoping to provide $3,000 towards a vehicle.
