A homeless dad is in desperate need of a new phone due losing the one he had. His children, ages 1 and 8, live with a kinship provider. It is critical that he have a phone in order to stay in touch with his caseworker, children, life skills worker, therapist, and attorney. If this need is met, he will be able to comply with his treatment plan and will be able to talk to his 8 year old son anytime he would like. A mother and her two daughters (a 14-year-old and a 7-year-old) recently migrated from Central America to live with their father and be a family unit after a couple of years of separation. The mother did not bring much clothing for the children and could benefit from some things for them. The 14-year-old wears a size 7 in shoes and is medium in clothing. The 7-year-old is a size 2 in shoes and 8T. The family also needs a sofa bed since there is not much space. They could also benefit from a dinner table for four. They needed some kitchen pots to cook since the father did not have many things in the kitchen for the family. Anything would help the family, thank you.

A mother and her two children recently migrated from Central America to reunite with her husband. The father has had to relocate to a studio so that the entire family can fit in a home they can afford. Due to the sudden change and the rent amount, the father is not able to cover the full rent of $1,700 this coming month. The family could benefit from some support covering the rent.

We have a very loving family that has taken in two twins and are trying their best while struggling financially. This wonderful family is awaiting home approval to receive stipend but are unable to complete classes, due to not having a laptop or ask to a laptop. CASA has a case with three children- ages 9 and younger. The children were removed from their parents after being locked in their room for days at a time, neglect, physical abuse, and relying on the oldest child to feed and care for the younger two. Mother also struggles with her mental health. The children are now living with their grandma, who could use help getting a few furniture items for the children such as two dressers (the two girls can share) and a twin bed, mattress, bedding and a pillow. Hey BattleCreek church family! We have been connected to a recent kinship placement. The maternal aunt has stepped in as an out-of-home safety monitor for her teenage nephew, providing him with a safe and stable environment while the family works through ongoing challenges. Unfortunately, the aunt’s food stamp benefits were recently hacked, leaving her without critical resources to feed her household. She is doing her best to provide for the teen and maintain stability, but with limited income and no access to her food benefits for the rest of the month, she is struggling to meet their basic needs. We are asking for support in providing assistance for their utility bill this month. Even the smallest amount helps!

A single mom unexpectedly lost her job causing her to be unable to pay her rent for the month of May placing her and her high school age child and child who is a young adult at risk for homelessness. She has already found a new job and is motivated to get back on her feet. Would you be willing to show this mom a little kindness? She would appreciate any help that can be provided to help keep her family in their home.

A young family from Afghanistan arrived in Holland a few months ago and is in need of support. While the dad speaks a few phrases in English, they primarily speak Pashto and have 4 children (plus one more on the way due in August). Their 10 year old son is currently enrolled at an elementary school on the northside of Holland. The younger siblings are a 5 year old boy and two girls aged 4 and 6 months. The father worked for the US Military in Afghanistan for 15 years before coming to Lansing with his family in 2021. He worked in a car factory in Lansing, but decided to come to Holland to be closer to friends when his family lost housing. The father is still searching for local employment, but is able to drive his own small car. They have borrowed funds for rent the past few months, but are running out of options. Any help would be a gift as we search for more sustainable income for their family!

Movement West Michigan has been made aware of the needs of this family and are working with multiple local agencies and churches to coordinate immediate support as they work toward long-term stability.
