Story
This family consists of a single mother in her mid-20's and her 3-year-old daughter. The child's father is currently incarcerated at a state prison until 2029. Last week, this child was placed in foster care with family due to concerns but mom has still been engaged and seems highly motivated to make changes in her life & have her child returned to her care. Mom has a lot of parenting strengths and loves her daughter very much, wanting the best she can provide for her. Unfortunately though, this family fell on hard times in the past few months and has struggled with coping through those stressors, which led to the recent concerns. A big step for mom would be to secure safe, stable housing for both her & her daughter. She was already in the process of doing so & was able to find an apartment. She has already signed the lease, had a planned move-in date for June 1st, and has been working to secure funds to help with the first month's rent and the security deposit. However, due to some unintended consequences of the child entering foster care, she no longer qualifies for some of the funding she was planning on due to being a "single adult" rather than a "family" in terms of the program's eligibility requirements. This has left mom $1,200 short on the funds needed to move in with minimal time. Additional community resources are in the process of being explored, too, so although $1,200 in the total amount needed, any smaller amounts would be beneficial and greatly appreciated.
