Story

•
1 Child 1 Adult

An 11 year old boy has recently returned to his mother's care after an out of home placement. The family is trying to normalize life again with the changes and the child would like to attend a summer camp program. This summer camp is a good opportunity for the child to be able to learn new things and broaden his knowledge in STEM. Each day has a different activity/theme such as drones, 3D printing, and robotics. The family currently does not have the extra funds to pay for the camp and would like to request any assistance that could be possible. The camp sessions are held twice a week and there are two sessions per day. The cost is $20 per session and they are offered in the AM or PM. The child would love to attend all 4 days in July which would cost a total of $80. Any amount would be helpful, even if only one session is covered. The information flier notes that if a child registers for all 4 sessions in a month, they can receive a discount. The cost could be paid directly to the camp.

Help Improve a Child's Wellbeing

Alejandro is a resilient 14-year-old boy diagnosed with ADHD, learning disabilities, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Abandoned by his father at just three months old, he has grown strong with the unwavering support of his mother. Despite facing her own challenges, including symptoms of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, a learning disability, and PTSD from past domestic violence, she remains Alejandro's steadfast ally.

Together, they live with nine others under difficult conditions and are urgently seeking a place to call their own. A past eviction order for $3,000 poses a significant obstacle, but his mother is determined and willing to invest $900 each month in rent. We are requesting assistance to help pay off the eviction order or to find a stable place to live. Alejandro's mother assures that she wants to contribute to addressing this debt as well.

Alejandro is in a period of transition, finding his own space while sleeping on the dining room floor. He is patiently awaiting the moment when he can fully embrace the joy of opening his Christmas presents, highlighting the potential for brighter days ahead as he carves out the space he needs.

Help Improve a Child's Wellbeing

The Genesis Project has incorporated a "campus cash" store in which children are encouraged to earn "campus cash" and then purchase special items in the campus cash store. Children can earn "campus cash" by asking and completing extra chores, exhibiting positive behaviors with adults and peers, completing learning modules, and reaching therapy goals. The campus cash store has items that include new toys, books, remote controlled cars, hot wheels play sets, legos, new footballs, soccer balls, frisbees, squishy toys, fidgets, stuffed animals, and action figures. Once a week, the boys come to the campus cash store and purchase these items. The campus cash program teaches residents a variety of skills including money management, basic banking skills, saving skills, good purchasing skills, negotiation skills, and delayed gratification. This simple program helps develop a strong foundation for seeing how hard work and appropriate behaviors are rewarded for a basic life skill that will have a lasting impact through adulthood.
Our campus cash store is in need of "pre- teen" items. As each child is unique and has individual interests, the Genesis project is requesting gift cards to "Five and Below" stores. We are also interested in receiving donations of fishing tackle; men's body spray; NFL or OK university gear (caps, posters), cheap neck chains, magnetic dart boards, beanies, soccer slides, wallets, digital watches, snacks.

Help Preserve a Kinship Placement

An 8 year old boy was placed with his grandmother to help maintain his essential connections. The youth transitioned home with a biological parent that took all of his belongings with him. The youth unfortunately had to return to his grandmother's care and the family is unable to get any of his items back from his parent. Grandmother is asking for help in buying clothes for him to wear for when school starts in July. Grandmother has utilized additional community resources to help get enough clothing for the youth.

Help Assist a Victim of Domestic Violence

A brave mom in our church community has endured years of physical and emotional abuse. Just four days after undergoing a double mastectomy for breast cancer, her husband threatened her with a weapon. She fled for her safety, obtained a restraining order and filed for divorce. They share two daughters, ages 9 and 3. Her husband is now seeking full custody of their daughters and he’s spreading false claims to their 9 year-old that her mom doesn’t want to see her. This has caused deep emotional trauma for their daughter. While the court has ordered joint custody for now, mother and the 9 year old daughter are in reunification counseling, which costs $1,000 a month paid by the mom alone. The father, who is on disability for severe mental illness, lives with his parents, who are covering his legal fees. He pays no child support or alimony. Meanwhile, the mom is also on disability during cancer treatment and receives just 30% of her salary. She’s facing mounting legal fees in her fight to protect and reunite with her daughters. She is currently $1,100 short on rent due to a recent attorney payment. She needs urgent financial support to cover her rent. Your generosity can make a real difference in her fight for the safety of her children, healing, and security. When donating, select “FUND”.

Help Improve a Child's Wellbeing

This young man is a junior in high school. The student lives between his parents house and grandparents house. His grandmother has been experiencing some health challenges since that end of last year and this has taken a noticeable on this young man. The added cost of medical expenses for grandmother has left nothing to go towards extra curricular activities. As a result the student has begun to sell snack items at school to help support himself. This young man would benefit greatly by attending summer camp and be encouraged in his pursuit of high school graduation. This opportunity would be a light at the end of a very dark for this young man and serve as a reminder that hard work pays off not just in the future but now.

Help Improve a Child's Wellbeing

This request is on behalf of a 17 year old high school student. This student is the oldest of 4 siblings and currently lives with their mother and father. The mother is not involved in the student's life and leaves the majority of the day to day responsibility to the father to care for and provide for the student and his younger siblings. Student does well in school and has been prioritizing his grades and school work. The student has expressed interest in going to summer camp but does not have the funds to attend. Attending summer camp would give the student much needed encouragement to continue to work hard towards his future goal of playing football at the college level.

Help Improve a Child's Wellbeing

I am submitting this request on behalf of a high school female with special needs. The family recently moved from out of state and was staying at a local shelter before being placed in permanent housing. The family consist of mother, father and 4 children. All the children have varying disabilities. Currently mother is the only income earner for the family. This young lady would greatly benefit from attending summer camp where she can participate in age appropriate activities with her peers and get specialized support from a camp counselor. This will also allow for the mother and father to have a reprieve while they attend to the needs of the other children.
