We have a kinship placement that has a 2 year old placed and they are moving towards RGAP/adoption. Placement is a single parent with 2 other children. We are requesting a $30 gift card to help this placement obtain a copy of the child's birth certificate.

The Department is working with a family with a 1-year-old boy. They are currently in need of financial assistance with rent. The father recently switched jobs and the mother recently lost her job after missing work for mental health reasons. She is currently interviewing for new jobs. They are struggling with this expense as a result. The mother has completed her treatment and the father is in expected to complete his treatment plan in the next couple of weeks, fully unsupervised with their baby, and nearing case closure. The family is just $300 short of their total rent payment. Assistance with this need so that the family can keep their child in home as they work towards case closure is greatly appreciated!

200: Children Adults: up to 50 Hello Community Supporters! We are holding our annual Kinship/Foster Parent Appreciation Celebration in June 2025! Kinship families are unique in that they take placement of children on an emergency basis who they have a prior relationship with in order to prevent children from being placed in the foster-care system. Foster families are such a need in this community and they open their homes to children with no where else to go. These families selflessly get licensed knowing the need in our community. They have to complete a rigorous process to open their home and cooperate with several agencies and the court system as well as be an advocate for the foster child in their home. If the community didn't have foster parents, more children would be in DHS offices without placement. Showing our appreciation will ensure we can maintain these vital resources in child welfare and hopefully encourage others to help in ways they are able and advocate for children with DHS involvement. The Kinship/Foster Care Unit is hoping to be able to provide gift cards through a raffle to each family at the event in the amount of $50 for grocery stores, Walmart or Target, or other locations in town where items for the family can be purchased. Another option is to provide specific items to raffle off to the families such as fun activities for the children or gift baskets, be creative!

Youth is about to enter FYIT program and is currently at residential placement completing his program, youth would like to get a job for the summer and would like to be able to ride on a bike to work in order to not rely on public transportation.

The family has an open CPS case for about a month. There have been concerns with the cleanliness and safety of the home. There are nine children in the home. The family is in need of nine twin sized beds, nine bedding sets, and a washer and dryer. The mother reported that the washer and dryer quit working. Since CPS has been involved in the case, the family has allowed people to come to the home and remodel the home, as well as help them clean the home. The parents are ensuring that the medical and dental needs of the children are met, and they have made tremendous progress with the home and case progress.

Single mom with two children facing eviction if she doesn't get help with her rent. Children out of school, and challenges with child care, caused her to miss work. She only has half of her rent. She needs to help with $600 which is the the other half of the rent and late charges. The children will be going to summer camp in July allowing mom to get back to her normal working hours.

Hey team, we have a family in our church that serves as a foster family. The birth mom for the child is in need of a convertible car seat so they can have the child for visitation. This would meet a huge need for this mom and child and serve the foster family as well. If you happen to have one in good condition that you could give her that is great or here is an option if you would be available and willing to purchase one. A single mom with an 8-month-old is living with her mother and does not have a bed for herself. She needs a full or queen-size bed (frame, mattress, and box springs) plus bedding. A small floor fan (not a ceiling fan) is also needed for the bedroom. This mom is part of the Napier community that Harpeth Hills serves.

Newly arrived Special Immigrant Visa holder family of 7 who fled from Afghanistan (US allies) is needing a bunkbed for 4 daughters to settle into a single bedroom in their 2 BR-1BA apartment this week.

Unfortunately, due to limited space in bedroom (needing to fit 2 sets of bunk beds), twin bunk beds will fit better than full bunk beds, so probably not flexible on that aspect of this request.

Depending on the bunk bed frame that you donate, we may or may not need box springs, so I didn't add those explicitly to this request.

We have a youth accepted to Georgia Gwinnett College starting in August. She will definitely need a laptop for school. Although her tuition should be covered by the state through the Independent Living Program (ILP), she will be living on campus and will have to pay her own dorm fees, ($400 per month). She will have a job on campus to try to cover those fees, but is also working now trying to save up for a car. She would greatly appreciate any and all help you could provide to set her up well to succeed at school. Please join us in praying for this youth!
