Request: Support for Foster Family Temporarily Caring for Two Young Nieces

A generous foster family has recently stepped up to care for their two young nieces—ages 2 and 3—while their parents are navigating a medical crisis with a new baby in the hospital. This family is already providing love and stability through foster care, and this unexpected addition has stretched their resources even more.

We’re hoping to rally some support to help them care for these little ones during this time. Here are a few specific needs that would be a huge blessing:

Truly, any amount of help is appreciated. This family didn’t hesitate to say “yes” when their nieces needed them, and now we have a chance to say “yes” to them. Thank you for considering how you might help meet these needs with love and generosity!

Please help us preserve a kinship placement. Three children were placed with their adult sibling. The children are sharing a bedroom and they have bunkbed but only one top mattress. They are in need of a full size mattress for the bottom bunk. Getting this full size mattress would allow the children to have more space in the bedroom to move about and sleep comfortably and will preserve the placement as each child will have independent sleeping arrangements. The family does not have any assigned services that may assist with the purchase of the above items. The caregiver recently had to quit her long-term employment to remain home with the children and her own bio children as she needed to provided closer supervision and care. The department explored other services to assist the family with purchasing the above items, but none were available. Please help us preserve this placement.

Please help a youth aging out of the system. The youth is in need of a new refrigerator as hers stopped working last week. As such, she has been unable to keep food in her home as it spoils quickly. At this present time, food is spoiling much fast as it is getting hotter. The youth suffer of a mental health diagnosis that prevents her from obtaining employment and performing other functions. Please help this youth obtain a refrigerator so that she may have some healthier food option at home.

A single mother of two children is needing help fixing her dryer or she is needing a new one. She is currently pregnant with her third child. She is unable to financially get this done.

This is not just about a house. It’s about dignity, healing, and the fragile hope of a man trying to reclaim his life for the sake of his child. The individual in question is a father who has begun the painful but courageous journey of weaning off drugs. For years, substance use robbed him of stability, self-worth, and the ability to care for his environment—or himself. His home now stands as a haunting reflection of that past: neglected, unsanitary, and unsafe for a child to inhabit. It is not fit for recovery. It is not fit for family. While he fights daily to stay clean, to rebuild trust, and to become a parent his child can rely on, he is met at every turn with the weight of his surroundings—an overwhelming mess he cannot fix alone. Every pile of debris is a reminder of who he used to be, making it that much harder to believe he can be someone new. A clean, safe space would not just give him a fresh start.

A local family in need has been identified by our church. She lost her job and is trying to sell her house because otherwise she is going to lose it. This is one of those situations where circumstances have snowballed into a big mess. She's trying to get back on her feet, but the burden is heavy and discouraging. She needs a hand up. They have food for today and tomorrow. We would like to offer assistance with alleviating some of the bills that are piling up and helping the family to secure quality food options.

We are seeking the funds to pay their electricity bill so that the power can remain on, the phone bill so that she can maintain contact with their realtor as they try to sell the house, and funds for a grocery gift card.

Hey BC fam! We have a foster family in our church that has welcomed newborn twins into their home and is in urgent need of formula support. The babies consume one $40 can per day. The family is asking for $1,200 over the next 4 weeks as WIC will cover the cost after that. Your generosity will help provide essential nourishment during this critical time. Single mom with two children facing eviction if she doesn't get help with her rent. Children out of school, and challenges with child care, caused her to miss work. She only has half of her rent. She needs to help with $600 which is the the other half of the rent and late charges. The children will be going to summer camp in July allowing mom to get back to her normal working hours.

Hey team, we have a family in our church that serves as a foster family. The birth mom for the child is in need of a convertible car seat so they can have the child for visitation. This would meet a huge need for this mom and child and serve the foster family as well. If you happen to have one in good condition that you could give her that is great or here is an option if you would be available and willing to purchase one. A single mom with an 8-month-old is living with her mother and does not have a bed for herself. She needs a full or queen-size bed (frame, mattress, and box springs) plus bedding. A small floor fan (not a ceiling fan) is also needed for the bedroom. This mom is part of the Napier community that Harpeth Hills serves.
