Story
A local woman and her husband and their three kids have lived in their home in Altadena for 10 years. They have a 14 year old, a 10 year old, and a 4 year old. They were able to quickly find housing, but it was when everyone was raising rent after the fires. They wanted to stay close for their kids to have some normalcy in the chaos. Their older two kids were able to stay in their schools, but the youngest's daycare was burned in the fires as well. They were able to find another daycare, but it is unfortunately more expensive than they were paying. They thankfully have insurance, but like most cases, it isn't enough to cover all of their needs. They are currently paying their mortgage and their rent. Their insurance is only covering $2,650 of their rent, so they are paying $2,000 out of pocket. I'm advocating for three months of their cost of rent, total $6,000. I know that this would give them some relief financially while they are recouping other costs.
