I’m reaching out on behalf of a courageous single mother of 3 children who is navigating one of the most heartbreaking and challenging seasons of her life. Due to an unexpected emergency in her apartment complex, she & her children were forced to dispose of all their household belongings. From furniture to everyday essentials—everything was lost. Emotionally exhausted and living on a very limited income, she is now trying to rebuild their home from nothing. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community & a timely intervention by the CarePortal, the family recently received beds—an incredible gift after weeks of sleeping on air mattresses. It brought comfort & hope to a home filled with uncertainty. But the journey is far from over. While the family now has beds, they still lack the everyday essentials that turn a space into a true home. They are in urgent need of bedding—items that go beyond fabric & filling. These are simple things, but they represent so much more: warmth, comfort, dignity, & peace of mind. A devoted and loving grandmother—now the legal custodian of her two granddaughters, ages 9 and 5—is in need of support to help provide clothing for the children. As she adjusts to her new role as their full-time caregiver, she is doing everything she can to ensure they are safe, stable, and well cared for. However, the added financial responsibilities have made it difficult to keep up with basic needs—especially clothing, which the girls have recently outgrown.

The caregiver is currently employed and actively working with her OhioKAN Navigator to access available resources. She has submitted applications for benefits, including the Child Only–Ohio Works First program and the Kinship Permanency Incentive Program, which may help ease some of the financial burden in time. However, immediate assistance with clothing or clothing gift cards would be a tremendous help as she works to meet her granddaughters’ everyday needs.

This family has had a very hard time. The mom was a traffic victim. She got pregnant but was made to give her baby up and then was told her baby died. She mourned her baby only to find out later that her child was alive and the child had been taken from the family that had her. Mom is working to get her child back but it has been a struggle. The child doesn't understand and has been struggling to connect with mom. They are both in counseling including family counseling. Mom is doing better and is actually engaged to be married. They have very little as their lives are still trying to come back from the horrible start. They are needing support with getting a gas stove to help make family meals and a washer and dryer. Any help is appreciated.

She recently chipped a tooth while eating, and after visiting the dentist, she was informed that she needs a partial and a root canal. The estimated out-of-pocket cost for the procedure is approximately $1,000.

Although the caregiver is employed, her dental insurance covers only a small portion of the needed work. On top of that, she has just secured legal custody of her granddaughters and is in the process of applying for Medicaid. However, if she is found over the income limit, she will need to add the children to her employer-medical plan, significantly reducing her take-home pay.

She is actively working with her OhioKAN Navigator to explore available community resources for financial assistance. While some benefits applications have been submitted—including the Child Only–Ohio Works First program and the Kinship Permanency Incentive Program—these programs may take time and may not fully cover the current need.

Please help a grandmother who works fulltime while providing excellent care to her grandchildren and great grand child. This grandmother does not receive any financial assistance and has ran into unforeseen circumstances. This family has secured an apartment but cannot afford to fully furnish it. Dad, recently lost his job, rent is paid for this month. They need a sofa, beds, kitchen utensils, and the basic items for living. The children are ages 9 and 4, and grandma lives with them as well. They've been coming to Lighthouse Church as a result of using the pantry on site.

A blessed opportunity to help a young, Christian family make it through a very difficult time in the heat of summer. A mother and father trying to secure a roof over their young children and feed their family. Tragically, the mother just lost her baby during delivery; father had to take time off from work to take care of her. He is back working but they are behind a few paychecks.

They need help to stay in a hotel for 2 weeks while they save money to rent an apartment (the apartment isn't ready yet). They could also use help with essentials and food.

If we can help them now, it will stabilize their income and resources for the future.

A family recently had to flee their family home and move into an apartment to escape domestic violence. They are starting over and need basic cleaning items, household items, toiletries, and grocery items. A Walmart gift card would greatly assist this family. Any donation is appreciated.

Single mother is in the process of moving into more affordable housing and working to improve her financial situation. She is experiencing major health issues which make it difficult for her to work and support her middle school aged daughter. She could use some help with some utility bills this month.

We currently are fostering 3 children and want to continue to make their experience meaningful. We have a 12 year old girl who could use some basketball shoes (size 7.5) and probably extra socks. We also have a sibling set ( girl 2, boy 1) who could use some pajamas. She wears 3T and he’s in 18month. Diapers and wipes are always needed. Thank you so much!
